Ashen Alfar and their Altar (July work in progress)

Hello guys, how are you?
Many of you are thinking "Hey! Where's my Manticore?"... well it's being distributed now, and we will make a post as soon as this one is live :) Many things going on today!

Since the Ashen Alfar won the poll day 4 we didn't had running like crazies. A run against time to make an epic terrain piece that goes far away our "structures & terrains" experience.
At the current stage we are almost finishing it, but we didn't even started all the characters... we really hope to make it in time for day 3 next month ^^
The Soul-Harvester, the dark elf altar
Many people in our communities asked how
Luckly Zbrush can store hundreds of autosaves and quicksaves. I love that function. We didn't recorded the making of the Soul-Harvester, but we had been able to make a video with all the steps from scratch. Here how we made it (even if it's still wip)

Lore & Stories
As you might have noticed, we edited our Patreon description. We specified that finding a role and a purpose for each model we make is part of our creativity, and we can't stop that.
We can't simply make a bunch of elves or goblins, we spend so much intimate time with "them", fixing their lips, noses, ears and armors, that it's impossible for us to not start writing down crazy ideas about their goals, personalities and backgrounds. We love to get carried away by imagination and make these sculpts alive.
Still, as it's a bit heavy to have Polls running with tons of text, we will make smaller Poll descriptions, then write everything we have in mind about the designs we are making with the Monthly Releases posts.
Expecially because during the poll we often have more crazy ideas about a faction than the others, and we don't want to have a big wall of text for a faction and then few rows for others ones.

Ashen Alfar Inquisitor SET - Lore (ideal PROXIES for Drows, Eldar, Dark Elves etc)
The Scourgeland are a part of our world where Tialevor the dark Tyrant-God unleashed a terrible curse, transforming huge forests in a desert of dust and sand.
At the center of the Scourgelands rises Nikeza, the largest and most "sacred" city of Ashen Alfar.  It is there that on an enormous crater stands the imposing Ashen Throne: an immense pyramidal stronghold held in flight by a powerful spell. On its top lie the bones of Ghaomir, the ancient Dragon God revered by humans. Proudly, at the center of his huge rib-cage, sits Tialevor the Tyrant-God, who reigns supreme over the Scourgeland.  The feared and menacing Ashen Inquisitors (probably at least 4), from the full plate armor built with the hardened ashes of the Old Dragon, keep the lower castes submissive and making sure that no insurgencies arise: freedom of thought is not tolerated in the domain of the God-Tyrant.   Their role is essential in finding and eradicating the birth of new cults as it is known that the old gods Tialevor has defeated may resurrect if enough people pray to them. Only the Soulless Priests (we will do at least 2 of these heavy armored clerics), the few Alfar who have maintained immortality, can approach their lord: these ancient creatures had been trained throughout entire ages, their power stands above any other living being. A forged mask is welded to their deformed face, depicting the face of Tialevor. The beast/mount of the set will be probably a fearsome lizard adapted to long trips in the deserts of the Scourgelands.  We have currently no concept but the idea is to have a sort of Tatooine (from star wars) Lizard mixed with a raptor and a "caravan" camel.
The throne on the moving altar, the Soul-Harvester, is not to confuse with the Ashen Throne. The Soul-Harvester is the moving throne of the Bride of Tialevor, an Ashen Alfar who had been choosen by the Tyrant-God himslef (and she choose him of course) to run his unholy inquisition.

Now few talks about our RPG. Honestly, we made this for fun and for personal use. We are playing it with our friends from time to time and have fun, and of course, as we are also sculpting models, we are including EVERY SINGLE creature we sculpted for Artisan Guild Patreon in our world. It would have no sense to not. For example when we made the Jurakin here on Patreon it tought it would be cool to have a mini campaign based on them, same thing for the Oni Clan.
Ogre, Orcs, Dwarves, Goblins, Kobolds, Jurakin (fish people), Gryphkin (bird people), Dragons, Demons and so on. And the Ashen Alfar are part of that like any other.
Does this means that we are making the Ashen Alfar for our game? not at all, it's quiete the opposite. Having fun playing our game and sculpting characters automatically leads to having a sort of intersection.
Our universe creatures also works also for Proxies for the most common games. You don't know what to use the Ashen Alfar for? Dark Elves, Drow, Dark Eldar... Vampires.
Scourgelands Survivos are perfect for istance to be used as bandits and tribes from the DnD Darksun setting, the Conan setting and Underdark survivors, making armors from Umber Hulks, underground worms and Ankegs.
But we also love to make some crazy new designs. If we might end up with a creature that looks to exotic for most games probably people will not vote it. That's why we run polls :)

We hope that you like the crappy video we put out, it was not planned so it's a bit spontaneous :P
Thank you so much for your feedbacks!
We will come up with a more clean detail about each character of the next release in the next Monthly Release post next month.
Cheers!

Is Zbrush sub based now? We bought our licenses ages ago and it's totally worth by the way. All upgrades and new versions are free

Reinaldo Rodrigues

That looks awesome, I will use the Alfar as Vampires!

Glitterwolf

Awesome to see you work. Thank you for showing us. I need to learn zbrush. Everything is subscription based these days. Not good for the casual modeler.

Eric Obara

Great video!! It's a terrific way to show your process! On top of that you have some really solid tips of things to try in zbrush for beginners

William Appledorn

Loved the video. It's interesting to see how your models come together. As someone who is into vampire minis I really like the vampiric look of the Ashen Alfar :)

Maria zur Nedden

DAMN!

DoctorDiscord

Thank you! I'm brand new to Zbrush and working on my first mini sculpt. I learned more from watching your time lapse video of Dunn the Half Ogre than I have from any tutorial. I would love to see more process stuff like this when you have time.

Extra :)

Artisan Guild

Octavio Carlo

Amazing! Love seeing the process. Lot of love went into this one.

Victor Laurence

Best video ever! Very instructive and very understandable. (your english is perfect, since you want to be understood)

HAF

Man this looks sick! Are the slaves an add-on for the terrain piece or do they count as two of the modular sculpts?

J-Zarno .

MyMiniFactory.com you'll get an email to redeem the manticore for free if you are qualified.

Marshall Ladd

Ya know, the first thing I thought when I saw the concepts was "These will make great Dunmer from Elder Scrolls!" Can't wait!
