Preview of March Set

Hello friends!
After a very long day of sculpts, renders... and video editing (it's not really our best skill ahah) we want to make a quick post to show you what's coming next month.

Dwarven Oathbreakers, the last hope of Lok-Badar, the kingdom under the mountain. Casteless dwarves who committed heresy and crimes, exiled out of the mountain as alternative to a death sentence. In the Ashen Era, the Oathbreakers redeem themselves fighting for Lok-Badar, hiding its secret location from the enemies of the dwarves. These master of survival wield a huge variety of weapons, including spears, axes and hammers, different crossbows and even an array of Draknaria (red gun-powder) blunderbuss. The most iconic Oathbreaker weapon, however, is the Dwarven Axe-Gun.

More Lore on this set will be published day 3 March with the release! You'll get to know the background of Gino and Helga, aswell as the important role covered by Fraia the Innkeeper.

We really want to thank you for letting us to make this Set!

The concept of these Dwarves has been created many years ago, during the end of 2013. We wanted to make a set of rangers exiled from their homeland, in a quest of redemption to defend their homeland by the invanders. As you can imagine we were inspired not only by The Hobbit book reed in our childhood (our passion for dwarves come from there!) but also by the iconic night's watch.
Gino, the leader of the Oathbreaker, is inspired by Andrea's Grandfather. He was a sculptor and craftman. Here a very old documentary of his work as pipe artisan... unlucky the video has never been translated in english. Gino is also the name of our 4 years old son :)

Hello, Have you ever thought about doing some science fiction?

Adolfo Ramos

These look awesome! I love this set and all the previous ones since I joined. But...is it just me or does it seem like all of the female figures have the same face with the sharp angles in every set? In some cases it fits the race but I'd personally like to see some softer features from time to time.

Matt Davis

No sorry, we do topless when it have sense in the lore/theme of the characters :)

Artisan Guild

You could just ask Evan for a (commercial) license for Dungeons Sticks...

Eric Matecki

Will the pinup come in a topless version? I really like the thicc proportions of these models :D

Christopher Wignall

@madhouse - yes so long as the designer saved the coordinates of the parts. So for the feb releases the Abyssal Grunt B - if you open the grunt, the right shield and the left sword in blender or in MeshMixer it puts them in the right spot. Then it’s up to you to combine them properly, Ensure they’re solid, and export the new STL. I know the process at 30.000 feet I just wanted to nail down a few details before I printed. Now I’ve given away my secret :)

Matt Horbund - Potent3D

Wait, there is an option in a different program to combine them BEFORE I print them off and have them line up correctly?

Matthew Gladin

... am i just slow :) For the modular parts that are already in place, is it is as simple as sizing the hand/arm/sword whatever up until the circle on the hand fills the entire socket on the arm? is that how you make sure the 2 objects fuse together?

Matt Horbund - Potent3D

Thank you Steven! I will look into it. I actually am on a Mac so 3d Builder isnt an option. I started learning meshmixer, but simple boolean commands to make the Skull in the cube werent working. Swapped to Blender, watched 4 videos, works perfectly. Also, when I import the model with modular pieces into blender when it's a set (Gruntling A with left and right hands, for example) Blender knows their expected location and puts them together. I just need to learn the process to fuse the hands to the body, because they seem to be hanging/disconnected and im sure if i print it'll cause errors. maybe not :)

Matt Horbund - Potent3D

It's in Finnish, but here is a example of how to slice and mix. Takes a few times to get it down, then you're good to go. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ucxIop-drE&list=PLfiLhRgISxx_HEaGsg2kQfOBnH3-XXz_3&index=5&t=0s

Steven

I use 3D builder as well. as well as meshmixer for cutting models. I also use the weapons I like. I'll use 3d bulder to slice the hands off, then re-size the other hands to fit. Then slice the models into one.

Steven

yes of course! you can give all of them hammer and shield, or axe, or crossbow, or spear... and so on :)

Artisan Guild

Thanks Tucker! I started to learn Meshmixer - but it gave me fits with Boolean operations. I was told to dump it for Blender, and sure enough what I was trying to do was 900% easier in Blender. I was able to combine the parts in Blender by just selecting all and hitting CTRL-J (Command-J for Mac) and it made it into 1 object. Problem is when i scroll it in Chitubox i see where the ball for the hand is inside the socket, but it doesnt look solid/connected. i dont want to print for 3-4 hours to have the hands fall out of the socket and fail. I will look into M3DB or MM again. Was hoping to . just stick with 1 program

Matt Horbund - Potent3D

Use Microsoft 3D builder, drag the parts then highlight it all and Merge. Or use Meshmixer, drag into place, highlight and combine. Blender isn't worth the trouble, especially for easy stuff like merging.

Tucker Loper

I like the modular options. I'm trying to figure out Blender to move the hands/weapons in say the Demon pack to the right place and make them whole. I know if i open the Grunt A with the Left and Right module in blender it moves it to the right spot - i dont know how to make it a solid STL to print as one piece. I also dont know how to go into the standalone weapons and move say the fists into the arm hole perfectly and make solid. I've been searching various keywords like "blender move one object to another" and "blender connect one model to another" with little success. Any tips?

Matt Horbund - Potent3D

yes! modular, give them any of the old weapons or the ones in this pack

Greg Kourakos

on the dwarves, are the guns optional? I see it lists a "weapons pack" None of our worlds have gunpowder, or guns, so I am just checking to see if I can swap weapons out on the dwarves for non-gun weapons.

Keith Barnett

Absolutely love dwarves, can't wait.

Urnsheme

Dunno. Not a big fan of dwarfs. I doubt I'll ever print any of these

István Végh

So excited, these look amazing!

Shane May

Until I saw him, I never realized how much I needed a Wolf-hog in my life.

Robb

This style of figure design has me excited.

Adolfo Ramos

Hello friends Is there a channel to make future suggestions or this same chat?

Adolfo Ramos

I've never given a crap about dwarves, but, DAMN...this actually has me excited..well done

xJollyRogerx

Yes he is :)

Artisan Guild

I got my resin printer in January and immediately jumped aboard. I loved the elves in January. When I saw dwarves for February, I thought I might dip out and try other creators; then I saw the renders and stayed simply because they were such beautiful models. As it turns out, I've had a blast making an animatronic iron forge. I've stuck LEDs inside some of the cyborg dwarves and wasn't exactly excited about yet more fantasy stuff, so was hoping for some sci-fi this month. But it just demonstrates what a great platform Patreon is for supporting *artists*. These minis look amazing and I'm already half-way to having my own fantasy dwarf army (hey, in my games, cyborgs and fantasy dwarves mix together just fine!). Thank you for producing content not that I want to buy, but that is interesting and so well produced, I can't help it!

Bigus Chrisus

Is the leader pipe based on andrea's granpa creation? i didn't have the time to wactch the vid, but i'm curious ^^

Manuel Melendez

Love the battle piggy!

Richard Gallerno

Is that 2 mounted characters? Sweeeeet!

Richard Gallerno

Need a bear pet :D

Threepwoody

Do we at least have a semi-nude version of the pin-up?

Adrian Alexe

Nice!

Threepwoody

The best! Really love this! Yeah!,

Adam

Finally getting some crossbows! Yay!!!

Garreth Baldwin

Oh my goodness! These are even MORE amazing than I expected. I can't wait to print these! Also seconding the music request, I loved it.

Kory Bearclaw

amazing works , what for future some mechanil or cyber clan

jaman

beautiful work on the oathbrakers. What music track is that on the video?

David P

Wonderful set of dwarves. Thanks for the gryphon updates...I was having trouble orienting it in a position where it was properly supported and wouldn't have a ton of flaws from the supports, so having them separated should be much better.

Rob Leonard

That's cool, I understand you guys not wanting to be dungeon stick merchants. I'm going to do my own modification then. It would be great to be able to offer it to other patreon backers if they were interested too.

uuddvmmfhhlluu7953

I love that im seeing more and more scatter terrain included !!!

martin heesen

Can’t understand a word of the video, but it’s clear Andrea’s Grandfather was a highly skilled craftsman.

Robb

Evan Carothers system is great, we love Dungeon Sticks! But we don't want to take advantage of his creation and copy-use his system honestly, it would not be even fair.

Artisan Guild

well we made those versions! Every model with a pipe also come in a "no smoking pipe" version :)

Artisan Guild

I love the dwarf cover barriers. i think they would be amazing modified to work with Evan Carothers Dungeon sticks. It would be Awesome to have that version too!

uuddvmmfhhlluu7953

Really loving these guys. Couldn’t have hoped for better. Just inspiring design and sculpting. Though now that I know the story behind the pipes, I feel guilty for having asked for versions without them!

Tim Wollweber

Very nice work! They will keep me busy next month.

James D Cheney

I am in love with this set! I can't wait for March.

Don McLaughlin

Wow, stunning work—well done!!

Robb

Absolutely gorgeous, can't wait to print this boar rider.

Yoan Bouchand

WOW!!!!

Frederick A Williams

KHAZÂD AI-MÊNU!

Erik Watts

I love this set. My wife hates the female faces lol she crazy.

Israel Martinez

Freekin EPIC!

Oz

Love the smaller chest on the pin-up this month. She's definitely the first normal pin-up that I'll be using in games.

John Wigger

Man these look amazing! And the fact you have a story for them adds more to them than just dwarf sculpts!

Abdul Rahman Khan

Wow, just wow. Those look great!

Dave (sledgehamr)

Please make more minis that can be PCs! I have tons of monsters but few good hero minis.

Nathan Rowe

That is just so cool! I can't wait to print them all and create some tavern props along the way xD

Ronaldo Deschain

OMG. Looove it. As if you could read my mind. The designs are superb. Especially the lady ones. <3

Markus Jorissen

LOVE the weapon designs! These are some sweet dwarves!!! 😁

Michael Cote

This makes me so ridiculously happy. Praise the stone

John Madigan

I know it took a few months to get voted on, and there was some minor groaning about "more dwarves" ...But really, you have to admit those are some bad@$$ sculpts! Great work!

Scott M.

These look absolutely incredible.

Jimmy Lindqvist

Most excited for that Gryphon!!

Kaiden Bell

Amazing release!!
