This month Contests

Hello Adventurers! Sorry for the late on publishing this month Painting Contest!
As for the last time, we want to give you maximum freedom: you can partecipate basically with any Demon we released this month or in the past (Baalzrodan the Demon King, Amazons Snakewomans etc). Please see the rules for a more detailed list; they are listed in the links below.

Our Contests are finally "Cross-Platform", running on both our Communities: Facebook Patrons Group and our Discord Channel.
Make sure to enter the groups from these links before trying to use the links below.
This is valid for both our monthly Painting Contest and the Special Become a Troubles in Taverns Character Contest.

Merchant Poll result

The poll we had with our Merchant just closed, and it was really helpful. Not only for the result, but for all the opinions gathered from the community. Here the result:

We already have 130 Merchant Slots between the first 30 and the other 100, and are not going to open new ones. If you are interested to be one of them keep looking at the tier: every few days/weeks some Merchants leave, we often happen to have 1-3 free slots.
As many patrons (even non Merchants) pointed out, the main feature of the Merchant Tier is the ability to sell models. We already have a lot of merchants, opening more tiers will lower the chances for each ones to sell prints, making the tier almost pointless. We are also not considering to open "offline Merchants (phisical retail only)".

We hope you're having good time with the Abyss Demons, we can't wait to see your paintjobs in our communities! Thanks again for supporting guys, this line of 3d printable miniatures exists only thanks to you!

I don't normally jump on someone else's thread but Pat mentioned this elsewhere below, I think you CAN hold a painting contest on Patreon. "2. Make a contest that relies on community agency Rather than you choosing the winner of the contest, the winner is decided by your patrons... ...Why is this contest acceptable: the winner was chosen by a Patreon poll, not by chance." I'm not surprised at the merchant poll results, but I'm curious about how many of those people who voted "no" are actually selling product and aren't just sitting on the slot. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I'll keep trying though. Hopefully something will open up and I'm not just wasting my time painting all these miniatures for store photos...

If you craft them yourself it would be better :) but as you prefer

I also find the results of the poll interesting. My local store is just getting set up to begin printing and selling 3d minis. The store is the largest seller of miniatures in our State. They were really looking forward to being able to sell AG minis. The standard customer that comes into the store buys most there minis from the store. They have a very loyal and large customer base that continues to grow as it has for over 20 years.

Is it okay to use things like 3d printed rocks/trees/etc that are not made by Artisans guild in the presentation?

Interesting results from the merchants poll. As someone with a background in marketing, I can say that exclusivity in general hurts everyone, mostly the customer though. Even just googling β€œdoes exclusivity help sales” results in, β€œHaving exclusive sales or distribution rights to a new product may sound like a good deal. New research shows, however, that exclusivity can reduce profits, especially if the firm does not have locked-in loyal customers, because it eliminates the potential for greater word-of-mouth marketing” as the first thing to come up. For a company like Ferrari or Lamborghini, exclusivity is the only thing that keeps them marketable, but it’s only because the customers are willing to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for the name. In the miniature market, from my experience, most people just want models that look cool that are reasonably priced, save for things like warlord titans and the such, but again, it’s an extremely exclusive item from a specific retailer that is the sole proprietor of the rights, and it is very expensive because of it. I think the main problem any merchant is going to (or already is) experience is creating their own brand and customer base through marketing. Not to mention the nature of the miniature world is rooted in local game stores, and they already have their own local customer base. Does Artisan Guild have any lists of their authorized merchants and their associated websites/stores? I know that the main body of customers is going to come from the Artisan Guild patreon or people that already know of the models before purchasing, so including a list like this could help the merchants get more customers. It does also tie the Guild to them, and their integrity, so negative backlash could be experienced from customers who are unsatisfied, but I think it would be good for overall growth of the community and the merchants themselves, resulting in higher popularity and potential word of mouth.

Demons only? Can we paint the portal for this?

Felix Flauta

I applied. I’ve been approved. However, the link from here still doesn’t work. I did find the post however so we’re all good.

Erik Watts

it's really strange, we just approved 7 people since we published the post. Try to look for "Artisan Guild - Patrons Prints & Paints" on facebook, once you apply we will approve you :)

Artisan Guild

Nope and the link *to* the group also isn’t working for me. What’s the best way to get admitted?

Erik Watts

Tried, it works. Perhaps you are not part of the group?

Artisan Guild

Facebook link to the photo contest is still broken
