Close to Alternate Weapon goal!
Added 2019-05-22 09:21:54 +0000 UTCHello dear Adventurers and Merchants! We are really close to unlock the new Goal, and that means alternative weapons for the regular models.
We attempt to make something like this for the current sets: in fact we have brutal sword and maces between Ogres, and Axe and Hammers for the upcoming dwarves.
With the new Goal unlocked we would have the regular models (not heroes normally) without "weapon hand", and then separate Stls for "Axe-hand", "Sword-hand" etcetera.
Based on some comments and private messages we received, we know that some of you are concerned on having regular files "without hand" with the need to assemble with glue after print. On our experience it's very quick and it let you to print more varieties of the same sculpt and use different weapons.
Some other asked kindly if it's possible to have an additional version of the regular model (actually 4) for every weapon variant. This would mean x2 or x3 files on the shared folders For example: "dwarf guardian A +sword"; "dwarf guardian A +hammer", "dwarf guardian A + Axe" etc.
We really would like to make everyone happy! But it's not that easy, so we would like to discuss here the possibilitied. The best solution for us would be to have the regular figures without hand, and then a folder containing a varieties of weapon for you to glue afterprint or assemble in the slicer software.

I for one am in the glue the hands boat but there are people who just want to print and not worry about fiddly things like gluing the hands. Would it add that much extra time to have 1 "standard" model with an attached default weapon and a separate modular model that you can attach the optional weapons / hands to? I definitely don't think you should have a model for each individual weapon option.

2019-05-22 13:28:58 +0000 UTCI would say removed hands. This is something I have seen around. I am sure there are tutorial videos on adding in slicer , adding magnets, and glueing.

2019-05-22 13:23:39 +0000 UTCwhy not just set the models with a inset hole for gluing the weapon into the hand? is that worse for some reason? it would hide the seam nicer in painting, but would make for fragile prints. the removed hands worked fine on the cannoneer model and the cook.

2019-05-22 13:20:47 +0000 UTCGluing weapons is fine by me. I'd also like to learn how to combine the hands before printing as I've heard of other people doing, but gluing is fine for now.

2019-05-22 11:51:00 +0000 UTCWho here doesn't know how to apply one drop of glue raise your hand? Seriously though, if we ask Andrea to make different models, rather than different hands, everyone should understand it makes A LOT more work for him, which means less time to sculpt extra goodies for us. If we agree we can glue on the alternate hand/weapons, will make life better for him and for us in the end.
