His father started a rebellion years ago against king Robert, he was defeated by Ned and Robert. As punishment/to keep him in line, Ned took his youngest son, Theon, to be his Ward (basically servant). Hope this clears that up

2023-11-16 14:09:11 +0000 UTCIt’s true a lot of fans weren’t happy with how the show ended, but it’s definitely NOT a show that starts off strong and then steadily goes downhill. Personally, I think each season gets stronger up through season 4 (my favorite season), and season 6 is a lot of peoples’ favorite, as well. I’d say just keep an open mind and try not to be swayed by other opinions.

The four animals in the intro are sigils of the main houses: dragon = Targaryon; lion = Lannister; stag = Baratheon; and wolf = Stark. They did give a short backstory to Theon's place in the Stark house. Try to catch it on the rewatch. You're still doing a smashing job. 👍

2023-11-16 03:36:51 +0000 UTCThe tree in the intro is the godswood/weirwood trees and are related to the old gods which is the ancient religion in the north primarily but the trees are everywhere including even in the red keep. They are like a place to pray essentially but in the south they follow the “faith of the seven”. So when people say “By the old gods and the new” that’s what they mean. Also the reason the former hand and now ned went to speak with gendry the blacksmith kid will become obvious after episode 6. The puzzle pieces come together.
