The Humanity Lost Timeline.

Here’s a brief overview of the timeline for Humanity Lost, you could of course in theory zoom into any one of the centuries shown here and find thousands more important events that couldn’t be listed due to a limitation of space and the scale of text. There are some major nuggets of lore in here that I’ll likely expand upon later.

My apologise on the wait, this took a long time to organise in my head before even putting it to the page to arrange it all together. Let me know what you think down in the comments and if you spot any errors.

The Humanity Lost Timeline.

Comments

That will be coming soon JD, sorry for the delay!

Callum Diggle

Great timeline! However, I can't see the other page where the Singularity part is supposed to be.

JD

You’re most welcome Anshul, thanks for the support too!

Callum Diggle

You’re on the ball Fire_Warrior22! Everything you said there was spot on 👏🏻

Callum Diggle

Many certainly aren’t keen, there are anti-Deicide movements springing up all over the place, we saw a quick shot of one of the many riots in the end of issue 7 and there was mention of political parties organising to oust him in Issue 8. I think most within the GU realise however that Deicide is probably the best chance that they’ve got and put aside there suspicions, which are somewhat justified considering he’s a literal Over-Father. The blame is squarely laid at Humanity’s feet, there is near to no reflection within the Conglomerate as to their role in spurring the All-Mothers activation on though invasion. I think there will be significant push back surrounding the resurrection of Humanity from Extinction, but as with Deicide, many will see this as a new beginning.

Callum Diggle

Fire warrior is right, this is a universally recognised calendar centred around the singularity, it uses Earth years as its primary unit of measurement because of its pivotal role in the singularity, UE standard is also the Galactic Unions lingua Franca, because it is a neutral language among the many species and also because Deicide is leading a revival movement where he wants to eventually resurrect Humanity.

Callum Diggle

THANKS for this! I was asking for this in another comment

Anshul Kharbanda

Callum said this was the calendar used by the Galactic Union. It is used by every member species alongside their own particular calendars

Fire_Warrior22

so to put it. this is the conglomarate calendar.

gamerpro980

I would imagine probably not since I'm pretty sure the UE wouldn't have been around to base the new calendar after the singularity lol

Alien Person

i wonder why the calendar got change from the gregorian calendar? did the U.E change everything after they form? new nation new identity and everything. and forget about the past.

gamerpro980

That helps a great deal, thanks!

Callum Diggle

Oh! Reading this back I did notice for the 301BS entry there is an uncapitalised A at the beginning of one of the sentences, if that helps

Alien Person

I can't wait.

Fire_Warrior22

I remember you once said that the people of the G.U hate Humanity due to them creating the All-Mother and thus the Imperium. I wonder how they would react to Deicide's plan to bring Humanity back

Fire_Warrior22

A theory I just thought of is that perhaps the Conglomerate did capture some humans who perhaps surrendered. But after the All-Mother rose up and took control of every human with a connected BMI, so basically all citizens of the U.E that didn't work with the Wizard, she ordered all captured humans to fight the Conglomerate or sabotage it from within. Every human, except Losté and the Wizard, became just a pawn of the All-Mother, thrown against the Conglomerate.

Fire_Warrior22

You’re most welcome!

Callum Diggle

I really appreciate it, thanks! That would have been really cool. Ah yes, so you’re working from the section from the Map of the Milky Way showing the current borders, but there will be a map coming soon showing the borders as they existed before the singularity. There you’ll see that the Soeus actually border the Breimheinians, that part of the map is just obscured by the Imperium in the contemporary map. I’ll show the locations of each homeworld in that new map too so you’ll see that Wimrigg is right on the Soeus frontier.

Callum Diggle

Humanity could certainly be recreated by Deicide after the All-Mothers defeat, that’s his intention

Callum Diggle

You're right, I should have said that. But the fact there are absolutely no unaltered humans left other than Loste means that unless the U.E. killed people before they could be captured, the Conglomerate killed everyone, soldier and civilian, adult and child.

Erika Spooner

Hypothetically if all mother was defeated. is there a way to genetically engineer people back to their original form?

Parker Orosz

It must be mentioned that part of the reason the Conglomerate most likely didn't take many or any prisoners at all is because the vast majority of humans didn't know surrender was an option. As soon as the U.E got the Conglomerate ultimatum they ordered all their ships to fire on the Conglomerate without any input from their crews. The Conglomerate ultimatum did state that anyone who resisted would be considered an enemy of the Conglomerate and given how many ships were destroyed in the Light system it's clear the fight was brutal, the humans there fighting because they didn't know they could surrender. In the Abraham system, where the colonists had been indoctrinated since birth, no Human would choose surrender even if they had known that was an option. And by the time the Conglomerate reached the Sol system the All-Mother had already taken control of the U.E and it's people and the Final World War had already come to an end if I am not mistaken, meaning they couldn't take any humans as prisoners. Also, it is stated that the Conglomerate rescued the Wizard after he fled the U.E/All-Mother so it is clear they were open to taking prisoners.

Fire_Warrior22

As always lad, your lore for Humanity Lost is both impressive and incredibly detailed. I never expected so much stuff just for a colony that might not even appear in the series, but I am all for it. And it's interesting to see how almost every interstellar civilization eventually fractures. It would have been interesting to see what blocs would emerge from Humanity. Also a thing I noticed. You said that the Breimheinians were the 3rd species to join the Conglomerate, but I am guessing that by that you meant the 3rd species to fully join the Conglomerate considering how far away Wimrigg is from the Conglomerate core while Ounegg and Velousian space are much closer, indicating that perhaps there were already Ouneggians and Velousians within the Conglomerate by the time Wimrigg was discovered. Or perhaps I am reading too much into this.

Fire_Warrior22

Amazing work as always! Why was the "perfect society" in the Abraham system established? Was it an attempt by the U.E. to create a colony in which they had absolute control over the society? After all Androids can be programmed to teach kids whatever you want, no pesky parents telling their kids that the U.E. is evil or something. We really do see that the Conglomerate is just after more territory and just uses war crimes as an excuse, they even sent an armada to the Abraham system to kill people there despite the fact that they didn't choose to be there and were probably brainwashed by the Androids. Also considering the fact that Loste is the last unaltered human it means that the Conglomerate took no prisoners or let civilians live, they, with the All-Mother, are responsible for why Loste is an endling. Interstellar law seems to only apply to the Conglomerate's enemies. Will Loste at some point realize that the reason why he is alone is probably because the Conglomerate killed men, women and children indiscriminately? Will he want revenge? Will he start to think that it would be better for Humanity to be under the All-Mother than to be extinct or under the Conglomerate's rule?

Erika Spooner

Thanks as always Gabu!

Callum Diggle

Thanks so much mate! It actually used to be the case for all of the species, the Kolaxans and the Gord are the rare exception. Given enough time, Humanities colonies would have declared independence too and formed their own political blocs. At the very beginning of the timeline here we have the last Ouneggian sovereign state falling which was a tightly controlled dynasty, but there were other states that were annexed before this timeline started such as the Company and Dangalaxandalcankan Xixoxi Vicegenency. Most species branching out into the cosmos will face their fair share of fragmentation. Yes, the Breimheinians were the third member species of the Conglomerate, they only had their home planet Wimrigg at the point of joining. Because their planets crushing gravity, they were never able to escape its gravity well on their own. The Conglomerate uplifted them technologically and enabled them to expand outwards, spreading Conglomerate civilisation with them. Abraham was a chance for the United Earth to have a completely clean slate to realise their vision. The original citizens of Abraham were the product of ectogenisis, meaning they were artificially gestated embryos. Their genes were specially selected to produce a docile population with an amenable demeanour. They’re the ideal population for the UE because they have no past, no roots, they’re whatever their government wants them to be, because they have no ties to anything other than it. It’s a society resembling what communism is in practice, and I specify in practice. It’s a system of social organization in which all property is owned by the community (the state) and each person contributes and receives according to their ability and needs. I know that Marx and Engels held the “withering of the state” to be an ideal, that the state should eventually become obsolete and cease to exist as society becomes able to govern itself without the state and its coercive enforcement of the law as communism is fully realised, but that is just plain fanciful thinking tbh. Because if you think about it, the organisation of society at scale is what a state/government is. Any organisation of resources necessarily requires the centralisation of command, whether you want to call it a union or a council or some other thing. With the absence of a higher authority, that becomes the state. Anyway, that’s why I said “in practice” because what is euphemistically described as “the community” in communism when exercised in reality by the USSR or the CPK or the CCP becomes, for all intents and purposes, a total state. Everyone works for the state and is provided for by the state from the cradle to the grave. To go against the state is to go against the community and is therefore to forgo anything afforded to you by it, which under an absolute state, is everything. So too in this tightly run Abraham colony, there is no independence or escape from the state, not that they want to escape, because it’s all they’ve ever known. The mega-corps seen in the Sol and Light systems are holding companies that control many different subsidiary companies which serve different markets. They create the illusion of competition with one another using multiple different brand names. These different mega-corps are all connected up via a centralised investment firm that has exclusive access to the circulation of new currency through its intrinsic link to the UE central bank. This gives the illusion of choice and of a functioning market economy, but really it’s just the command economy of an all-powerful state. All of this falls away in the Abraham system, however, and they are formally rolled into “the community,” and the ectogenically selected denizens of Abraham are none the wiser. Communications with the UE from Abraham are carefully managed by the android handlers and trusted “inner party”; all citizens in Abraham form the “outer party”. So yeah, that’s what it’s like in the Abraham system; there are no independent small businesses or anything like that, everything is centrally managed by the colonial government. The citizens are content with this arrangement, never having known anything else. All are followers of new cult which is an amalgamated faith combining selected aspects of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, which censors out parts deemed undesirable to colony cohesion; temple and state are one and the same in Abraham. The formation of the United Earth occurred in 2121, so the Singularity happened in 2674. Yeah one year in this calendar is the same as a year in ours, this is the GUs calendar which is used universally by species along side their own particularist methods of recording time.

Ty for the transcript that actually made reading it a world of difference

meme doctor

Thanks Maple, that’s pretty good going for me, there’s usually one here or there. That’s a good suggestion, I’ll try it out and see if it works visually

Callum Diggle

Haha that’s fair enough, here’s a transcript to make things easier: “ ‪574BS The last sovereign Ouneggian state known as the Akatamranth Dynasty is toppled by the Conglomerate and its territory is annexed.‬ 559BS First lunar lava tube is terraformed. 553BS The United Earth government is formalised. Two interstellar missions are launched to the Light system and the Abraham system in celebration. 540BS The Aoe homeworld of Jroat is finally conquered by the Kolaxan Empire and its people are enslaved. 535BS Administration of the many Yarkeen territories is officially transferred to the Conglomerate. 530BS Remus, the planetary capital of Mars which grew out of the first Martian colony achieves full self-sufficiency. 519BS The proxy war incited by the Conglomerate between the People’s Republic (Velousian) and the Free World Alliance (Velousian) in 867BS comes to a close with the collapse of the People’s Republic. 519BS The FWA’s victory against the PR was afforded to them by Conglomerate backing. To their surprise, the FWA faced an interstellar war crime trial for their conduct during the war, a trial held by the Conglomerate. Their guilty verdict led to regime change and annexation of FWA territory into the Conglomerate. 500BS The West Velousian Empire-Kolaxan Empire war begins after unprovoked Kolaxan invasion. 486BS The Celestial Kingdom Of Eternal Spring (Velousian) falls, marking the end of the CKES-Conglomerate war 767BS-486BS. Its former territories are annexed by the Conglomerate. 477-473BS: Lunarian and Martian rebellions. 472BS Human colony ship UE Ark arrives in the Abraham system and establishes an experimental colony on the planet Zion using ectogenesis and communal android parents to engineer the “perfect society”. 457BS The Emperors of the West Velousian Empire & East Velousian Empire see the writing on the wall and merge their houses in order to face up to the combined threat of the Conglomerate and the Kolaxan Empire. This act of union marked the beginning of the Holy Velousian Empire. 457BS The Holy Velousian Empire launches an irredentist campaign to reclaim former Velousian territory from the Conglomerate, so commencing the Velousian-Conglomerate war. 441BS Conglomerate interference In the (Velousian) Welm federations democratic process leads to the Federation “voluntarily” joining the Conglomerate. 440BS Kolaxan-Conglomerate war begins. 418BS Widespread political instability within the Velousian Confederation because of foreign interference led to a “Conglomerate transitional administration” being imposed to restore order, provide assistance, and help the region transition to a stable Conglomerate governmental structure. 369BS United Earth colony ship UE Belfast arrives at planet Chiron and begins work establishing a human foothold in the Light system. 369BS An autonomous Conglomerate stealth reconnaissance station begins spying on the UE’s activities in the light system. 346BS Sufficient evidence is collected by the Conglomerate recon station showing breaches in interstellar law by the UE. This triggers the station to dispatch a messenger probe to deliver a notification of offence ASAP to the nearest Conglomerate territory. 301BS After 45 years of FTL travel at maximum warp, the messenger probe arrives at the Johhow system and informs the local Conglomerate government there of Humanities offence, an offence which can be used as a pretext for forced annexation under interstellar law. 301-296BS the Johhow Conglomerate senate debates the appropriate course of action. a verdict is reached and a request is sent to the Dranhow system (the most proximate Conglomerate territory to both the Abraham and the Sol systems) to begin the assembly of two armadas and reply with conformation of intent to invade on the set date. Subsequent probes are launched and received from the autonomous observation station in the years following the initial message to confirm the ongoing exploitation of the Chantauri species, the last probe is sent in 304BS and is received in 259BS notifying the Conglomerate of the recon stations discovery and destruction at the hands of the United Earth, an act of war. 570’s-240’sBS New Nation-states pop up on Earth during a long series of “independence wars”. 490-340BS The joint nation mega engineering project to drain the North Sea is a success and the nation of Doggerland Is formed. 209BS The Velousian-Kolaxan war ends with the dissolution of the Holy Velousian Empire as it accepts annexation into the Conglomerate rather than the enslavement of its subjects to the Kolaxan Empire. 296-188BS Three messages with a 36 year delay are sent back and forth between Johhow and Dranhow regarding the Annexation order of UE territory. Both systems stage the launches of their armadas over a 143 year period so that they arrive at their respective locations simultaneously. 186BS The UE Belfast returns from its first trip to the Light system and begins re- supplying for its second trip. 176BS The UE Belfast departs on its second journey bound for Chiron. 90BS A dispute surrounding asteroid mining rights spirals into the second Martian rebellion in a bid for an independent Mars. 85BS The Jovian moons decide to come down on the side of Mars against the Earth and Luna with the aim of gaining supremacy over the outer solar system, so began the Solar war 85-40BS 5BS The Conglomerate armadas bound for the Sol, Abraham and Light systems broadcast their message to the United Earth Government in each location, declaring the UE’s culpability in breaches of correct interstellar conduct. The UE’s case had been verified by two independent supreme courts in two separate Conglomerate systems, and both ruled that the party was guilty. Its punishment was to be the immediate dissolution of its administrative power and annexation of all of its territories by the Conglomerate. The Conglomerate requests a peaceful transition of power. If the UE agrees, the armadas that are en-route will be repurposed to set up the new local Conglomerate government. If the UE refuses, war will ensue. 8AS The Wizard’s ship is discovered. 70AS The Vureii homeworld is destroyed and the colonies are abandoned as the Vureii seek refuge within the Conglomerate’s borders. 90AS The Imperium discreetly establishes a foothold on the far side of Conglomerate space, this Imperium flank begins expanding exponentially, thus splitting Conglomerate focus away from the eastern front. 100AS Wodenisis is “named” by Böreus and goes through the process of ascension to become an Over-Father. 105AS The systems of the Bo are invaded by the Imperium, what little Bo remain seek refuge within both the Conglomerate and the Gordian Empire. 110AS The opening of the Imperium flank on the border of the Kolaxan Empire forces the Empire to respond to the Conglomerate’s pleas for an end to the war. The Conglomerate, desperate to bring an end to the conflict so as to focus all of its attention on the Imperium threat, made all concessions placed upon it by the Empire. The Kolaxan Emperor, knowing that this would appear as a victory to his subjects, agreed to the armistice. 111AS Kolaxan Empire joins a partnership of convenience between the Conglomerate and the Gord to fight off the existential threat that is the Imperium. 111AS The wizard takes up the position of Commander-in-Chief of this partnership, naming it the Galactic Union. Because of his lack of belonging to any of the species in the alliance and because of his proven track record as a strategist and politician, it made him the choice candidate for Commander-in-Chief. The wizard stood as a symbolic warning of extinction, a warning of what will happen to all species in the Orion-Cygnus spur if they do not join forces to fight off the Imperium. 130AS The Xepouri are rendered extinct by Imperium. 160AS The Imperium civil war, Wodenisis renounces his given name and proclaims himself Deicide. 161AS Deicide, with the assistance of the Wizard, his brother Fliegrigel and the Galactic union wrestles control of three former Imperium systems, they become known as the Shield of the Galactic Union. 224AS The battle of Chiron. 174AS The Wizard steps down as Commander-in-Chief and announces Deicide as his successor. 175AS Deicide lowers the exposed planetary core from space, creating the ringed city of Pelion and his secret forward operating base. 224AS Losté awakens from stasis. 249AS The Galactic Union’s capital fleet arrive at the Tandraxian Nomad-Star.”

Cool details!

Gabu

I LOVE all of this sweet lore we're getting! If there are any errors I haven't spotted them, but one suggestion I might add could be to colour code the text based on what species/faction they refer to? Though I guess that might be weird with text blocks referring to multiple groups

Alien Person

Holy moly! This is bloody amazing lad. It's so much lore and I can't wait to learn more. I am honestly quite surprised by how divided Velousian space used to be, even though it makes sense given their aristocratic society probably led to feudalism. It's also nice to see that the U.E also had to face rebellions. However, I have a few questions. In what year did the Breimheinians join the Conglomerate since the Conglomerate Member Species chart next to the galactic map implies that they joined after the Velousians and before the Yarkeen? What kind of society was established in the Abraham system? Is one BS or AS year equal to one Earth year and if yes what year is it in the Gregorian callender when the Singularity happened?

Fire_Warrior22

I love you work but I cackled when it said a brief overview and the text (in the mobile app) was so small it looked like straight lines lol.
