just to be clear, this is not in any way linked to Humanity Lost, it’s a commissioned piece of artwork for Ryan’s ongoing project called “The Peoples Of The Galaxy”.
here‘s the introduction to the Ozyrions:
“The Ozyrions, or Dwarves as they are also known, are a subterranean race unparalleled in their expertise of mining. Their primary method of powering their advanced civilisation is through the harnessing of their home-world’s massive geothermal energy reserves. Their cities go deep into their planet, at points, their territories even border their core.
Once they eventually spread out into their solar system, they immediately started burrowing into new worlds.
Whilst other lifeforms struggle with the nature of deep-space colonisation, for it more often than not involves landing a living capsule and burying in regolith to avoid harmful solar and cosmic radiation. The Ozyrions had the advantage of being accustomed to life underground with little to no sunlight or access to the surface. Where other species would go a little stir crazy, the Ozyrions thrived. It didn’t take much in order to make them feel at home on a new world, all they had to do was make sure their environment was sealed and there was little to remind them that they weren’t on their home-world, bar the gravity of course.
Perhaps their greatest wonder as a civilisation was the complete conversion of their moon into a fully operational labyrinthine spacecraft that could be moved from stationary orbit to stationary orbit.
Their amazing skills lead to them developing a close relationship with the UGA, the organisation to which they were eventually accepted as a member species. Now they operate the most successful Mining guild in the galaxy with a complete monopoly on UGA mining operations.”
