I've started working through a bit of editing, planning, and some writing on some non-Augur projects.
Not long ago, I started using Obsidian (https://obsidian.md/) to keep track of my notes. It's a very useful tool, especially as I move back and forth between different worlds, since it gives me an easy way to not only keep track of details, but also of the general shape and complexity of a story.
One of the ways I do that is through the built in graph tool. It gives a visual display of the notes I've made and how they're linked, which lets me see which characters might need some additional focus and screen time, or what things I made a note to include in the future but haven't actually tied in anywhere.
I've attached three screenshots of Obsidian graphs here. One of them is my notes for Augur, one of them is for Dark Path, and one is for a third series I have planned but have only just started writing, currently titled Rex Cosmos.
As you can pretty easily see, Augur has a fair amount of notes and points, but not a ton of interconnection. The characters all have their own thing, and they're mostly moving along in parallel, but their storylines aren't actually too tied to each other. I may need to fix that at some point past book 2, but for now it isn't that big a deal.
Dark Path is pretty barebones. I have a general idea for a plot for Dark Path, but I need to go in and actually draw it out so I can make sure everything works out. I actually had the next chapter of Dark Path half written out, but I realized that the timing and details just didn't work, they didn't do what I needed out of the story. Before I can actually start writing the next chapter, I need to finish my prework in Obsidian. I'll post updates as that progresses, but it means the next actual written chapter will be a ways off in the future.
Rex Cosmos is an idea that came to me as I was drifting off to sleep a couple weeks back. It's a very sci-fi pulp adventure story with a ton of sex and a very tongue in cheek tone. It's intended to be less serious than any of my other works, but gives me a good excuse to play with a bunch of fetishes and topics that I don't have included anywhere else. Also Mind Control, because Sci-Fi Pulp Mind Control is a well established trope, but also sexy aliens, robots, and I have a note in there labeled "GloryWormHoles" which I'm looking forward to actually writing.
I have the first scene of the first chapter of the first book of Rex Cosmos written, and will publish the chapter on here as soon as I get through the rest of it - probably some time this weekend.
