Near future writing forecast: July

I have, as of this morning, completed my first draft of Augur Book 2.

I have quite a lot of editing I'll need to do - my editor has already done passes through the first 11 or 12 chapters that I need to go through - but I think the basic story structure is unlikely to change at this point.

I will probably take a short break from Augur to clear my head. It's harder to re-read and update works that I've written in recently, because the core concepts, the 'intent' of the writing if you will, is still fresh in my mind. Words and phrases that aren't instantly clear make sense to me, because I know what I meant, so I need to get a little distance before I can come in from the outside to see what needs to be changed.

I'll probably do that by writing a little in one of the other universes I have in mind, most likely the brand new one I was inspired to write a week or two ago. It's a much more lighthearted work than any of my others - even Magic Notebook - but I think it'll make a fun story when I'm done. I actually have a much more complete idea of where I want to go with it than either Dark Path or Magic Notebook, so while it's tempting to work on one of those two, I want to get some of the first few chapters of the new (currently untitled) project done to see if it plays out on paper the way it does in my head.
