Self Inflicted Boredom = Success
Hi Everyone, Here comes another update from me:
Every single week is exactly the same. I am making progress on the MMX. Nothing else happens :)
Haha. It is going faster forward now, but thats really nothing to write home about. So I write to you instead! (?) It is a most exciting boring everyday life. I heard an interview the other day about how few people are prepared to suffer through all the boredom it takes to make something special and it is just so true with this project.
Talking about boredom, Derek from Veritasium put out a great video showing the importance of letting yourself be bored. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKPwKFigF8U) I think he is onto something. I tried the tip about not touching my phone the first hour of the day and for real, it works. I am addicted to my phone like everyone else but lately I have deliberately tried to keep it further away from me and it has made me more focused.
I am getting more and more suspicious about social media algorithms, and how they impact us. We are not in control anymore when swiping through algorithm controlled feeds… so putting the telephone away becomes a liberating act.
Talking more about boredom, The youtube audience have now suffered through one CAD video and one PBS video in a row. But, good news, I have a lot of building to do now, building videos coming up!
Today I am trying to put together the final version of the programming wheel programming plates. See picture. It is surprisingly tricky to design a material on a flat surface in the computer, and get the measurements correct once that material is bending into a radius. My lack of proper engineering education shines through at moments like these and even though we have collaborated on how to solve this with real engineers, we often resort to real world trial and error for the last tweaks.
Self inflicted Boredom = Success. Who would have thought.
Good luck with everything you do, thank you for lifting this project up to the skies. The machine is becoming BEAUTIFUL. I dream about the live premiere every day.
