I'd really love your feedback
Added 2017-01-19 03:13:56 +0000 UTCThis was a hard episode for me to do. It's not a socially acceptable lesson I'm promoting but I really believe in it.
So to really sit with the feelings I was having, and understand them, I asked my teen girls to let me read the script to them and talk about it with me. Was I off? Was I suggesting a relationship that /they/ didn't want? Were they okay with me talking about their sex lives publically?
And you know what happened? My eldest, 16, said, "you can publish it, IF you buy me some condoms" and proceeded to place her specific order of brands and styles.
I had to smile. She she was teasing me, but also being genuine, and I was hearing in very plain words my kid's sexual intentions. Talk about being put to the test! It was uncomfortable, as I anticipate it will be for anyone who tries what I'm prescribing, but at my core I knew that what she was doing by asking and what I was doing by listening was for the best.
If for no other reason than she'd have more access to condoms!
Please let me know what you think though too! I’m all about dialogue!
