2025-02-26 20:15:52 +0000 UTCApparently William Hartnell believed that Doctor Who would last forever. So the end scene with Matt Smith was as if he was looking into the future. The idea was that every big anniversary the BBC would show this again and change the end to include the current Doctor at the time. They did indeed do this for the 60th anniversary. So I’m glad you watched the 2013 version and not the 2023 version.

2025-02-26 20:15:34 +0000 UTCOne of the slight dramatic cheats this TV movie makes to tell it story is compressing the first four-part serial into a single story. The first half hour episode "An Unearthly Child" was indeed the pilot episode and filmed twice. It ended with the TARDIS dematerializing from the Totters Lane scrap yard and reappearing in a foreboding wasteland, were a mysterious shadowy figure was seen to approach. This led into the caveman adventure that comprised the remaining three episodes of that first story. The next story after that was indeed the introduction of the Daleks which was an epic six episodes and as seen in this dramatization really launched the show's popularity into the stratosphere.

2025-02-25 23:54:21 +0000 UTCMAN this makes me bawl my eyes out EVERY TIME 😭 SO glad you got to experience the magic of this, really makes you wanna start Classic Who huh? that last scene where Matt appears fucking BREAKS ME; the idea that Bill looked over and got a glimpse into the future of what and WHO (👀) the show would become, all those years later, all thanks to the role he started? 😭 Doctor Who being pioneered by women and POC, to take off the way it did at the time? oh yeah. that’s history baby 🫶🏻🙂↕️
