"Giles I'm 16 years old, I don't wanna die" - and with that one line Buffy went from kitschy teen vampire slayer series to a show with the potential for some serious emotional weight. I watched the show when it first aired. I'm old enough to have seen the original 1992 movie, and to have pitched a minor fit when I found out the TV show would be recasting the role of Buffy. I really enjoy campy and kitschy shows and movies, so once I got used to Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy I loved the goofiness of season 1; but when they dropped 'that' line, ooh boy that's when I knew this show was shaping up to be truly amazing. Looking forward to Season 2 with you. :)

If season 2 has a weakness, it is the number of MotW (monster of the week) episodes that do not advance the season story arc. However, most fans enjoy these sometimes funnier or more offbeat episodes as a welcome respite from the intense seasonal arcs. From season 3 on, the MotW eps diminish or are better integrated into the seasonal arcs and allow for more character development. Enjoy.
