Young Royals - Season 3 Episode 5 (FULL REACTION)

When are you going to post the finale

Kelly Earnest

Simon repeats his Mum’s words, ‘Love shouldn’t be this hard’ to Wille at the end of the episode. It’s as if he has almost lost his own words to get through to him and over the previous few episodes, we’ve seen him gradually ‘losing his voice’ and sense of his own identity. In my opinion, he feels he has no choice but to protect himself out of a sense of self-preservation here, although I think it’s important to notice that he also says that the whole situation is hurting Wille, which in turn, hurts him. Interestingly, Wille does exactly the same thing when he and Simon have a conversation about the monarchy and Simon says he sees how it makes Wille feel. Wille replies by repeating his mother’s words, ‘It’s a privilege, not a punishment’, but in this case, it’s suggesting that Wille himself feels differently and is trying to be the Crown Prince that his mother in particular expects him to be. I share your emotional response to this scene, Jay and it’s good to share the experience of watching this superb show with someone who really appreciates its quality and who is clearly invested in it. ❤️

Thanks so much for your reaction, Jay. ❤️ Just after Wille knocks all the birthday gifts onto the floor and the camera pans to Simon’s shocked face, there’s a very telling shot of a painting on the wall of the room. It’s a hunted stag, surrounded by hounds which are about to tear it to pieces and it perfectly symbolises the situation for both Wille and Simon, both of whom are equally at bay in this scene, it seems to me. This is the ‘crunch’ episode that we’ve almost come to expect from Lisa. Looking back at season 1 and 2, episode 5 in both is an explosive one for different reasons. When I watched this episode for the first time, I couldn’t see how there would be time for everything to be properly resolved in just one more episode- but trust me, if you thought this one was an emotional roller coaster, you’re definitely not ready for the finale! ❤️👑❤️

Great episode: tight plot, good dialogue, but most of all the acting: just amazing (all of them). Jay, you're amazing as well 🤗

Ohhhh man I knew this was going to be a tough one to go through with you, Jay! You feel so much for these characters (which is so beautiful btw) so I knew this episode would hurt with just about everybody going through it and reaching some really low lows. Our boys!! 😭 Will be looking forward to the finale - have tissues ready!

Love your reaction Jay, especially hiding in the corner of the room during the drama near the end. I can empathise with that as I felt like doing the same!

Both Edvin and Omar are at the top of their acting game and this episode particularly shows us how exceptional they are. I just wish that they are recognised at international award ceremonies and not just in Sweden.

Wilhelm had been holding all of this inside him since Erik died. I was expecting him to snap at some point and I think he really needed to get all of that out of his chest. I'm glad he did and with therapy, I finally hope he'll be able to move on. Micke (Sara and Simon's dad)... it's not the first time he's done that and let them down. Aka the cause of the divorce. Both siblings hoped he could change (Simon S1, Sara S3) but once again, he disappointed them. It hurt to see Sara this broken and I'm so glad she and Simon made up. Simon still loves Wilhelm (it's obvious) but I understand where he's also coming from. It hurts to say the least. August... I think it's unfair how you seemed to have forgiven him that easily. I feel bad for him cause of what he went through, I do, but that doesn't mean I forgive him for everything he did. It still doesn't excuse his actions. I knew something was gonna happen when Kristina (Wilhelm's mom) had the breakdown since it's been months since Erik died but now she breaks down. Wilhelm's words to her and his dad were totally justified. Also, fun fact: Wilhelm throwing the presents in frustration wasn't scripted. Edvin (the actor) did it and they kept it in. Simon's (Omar's) reaction is totally genuine.

Yep I'd recommend "Young Royal Forever", the documentary, as well. I'm looking forward to watching your reaction to the last ever episode. In fact I always look forward to your reactions to everything that you watch, you deserve a medal for subjecting yourself to all this trauma on our behalf. 😁.

Thanks in advance, Jay. I will be watching this with you tomorrow. I don’t think it will be any easier than it was before, but it’s still a very important episode. ❤️👑❤️

Don't forget the documentary after the finale! It's the last we'll see of this show so make it count! 💖
