1000% reacting to the documentary 😁

Ah, sorry - you're right. Deletion in progress! Just hope it's not too late and Jay hasn't seen the post.

Michael

Hi Michael, concerned about a spoiler in here for Jay who hasn't finished the season yet :(

Michael

Hi scarr - if you look above I mentioned that documentary a month ago and I also am hoping that Jay will review it.

There’s a lot of important stuff in this episode, but then because it’s Young Royals, when is there not? A couple of things that stand out for me are firstly, only Simon seems to pick up that August is describing his own eating disorder in the conversation at the sit-in. The others heard what he said but just laughed. This has been hinted at repeatedly since season 1: the pinching of non-existent fat around his stomach, the obsessive exercising, the sideways posing for selfies..and with the revelation of the frightening and degrading abuse he suffered in the initiation, now we can understand why because he is carrying the traumatic damage of sexual humiliation at the hands of someone he admired -Erik- although it would have still been devastating coming from anyone. So although August could be accused of telling Wille about Erik’s involvement out of spite, I also think he just needed to tell Wille what had actually happened to him. He can’t tell Sara and he has no-one else to tell, which maybe allows us to see someone real and isolated and suffering behind the villain that we all love to hate? It doesn’t excuse what he did in posting the video but it does put August’s actions in a new context, in my opinion. The second thing that strikes me (no pun intended) about this episode is how much external pressures are beginning to affect Simon, in particular. He’s subdued, even when he’s humming his song in the music room, he’s conforming to the demands of the Royal Court, he’s beginning to compromise his principles for Wille’s sake- but as Rosh says, he’s in danger of deleting himself as well as his social media accounts. There’s a lot of ominous threat in the episode and the rock through his window is just a physical manifestation of a worse threat, losing himself in his attempt to be with Wille, because he loves him so much. The question for the rest of the series must be, whether he and Wille can find a way to be their true selves, together or separately. I am just in awe of the brilliant acting, the subtle writing, the layers of meaning in Young Royals. Thanks so much for your reaction, Jay. I love how much you feel for the characters and their stories. ❤️👑❤️

That information from August absolutely crushed Wilhelm.

Michael

Thanks for another great reaction, Jay! These last two episodes are a lot but I'll be so looking forward to seeing what you think! Just to let you know - there is an hour long documentary also on Netflix called Young Royals Forever that they filmed while they were making this last season and it's a really nice way to close out the series. I think you would definitely enjoy it if you'd be willing to react to that after episode 6!

Erik was there. In my opinion, Erik's not the same guy he was after that. I was really disappointed

Girls Always

When Simon deletes his social media accounts it sort of implies that he loses his pictures forever, but surely he would have saved them first on a hard drive/memory stick for keeps sake and maybe in the future years he and Wilhelm can look at them again for old times sake. That's what I like to think anyway.
