I agree this season was a lot better than people said - I'm rooting for Penelope, she's running a major publication at the ripe age of 20. I thought Colin really came to the party this episode - I love a man who can appreciate a strong woman. Re - Michaela. I don't want to spoil you, but she's going to be a major, major character moving forward. I can't wait to see her relationship with John, Eloise and....Francesca next season.

Thanks for your lovely thoughts and hilarious jokes and comments. I have shared you 3x01 YouTube ep with the Polin discord server I’m in so that more fans can find you guys. I wanted to take the opportunity to give some more insight on Colin and his motivations since there was a lot of editing from the original script where scenes were cut/changed that would’ve explained it more explicitly, and the fans have done spotlights on these changes, and they feel quite substantial knowing what casual viewers have been confused about. Remember back in S1 when Colin got engaged to Marina and Anthony had him in his office saying that he was too “green” and he should’ve taken him to brothels? His idea of the model gentleman of the Ton is essentially Anthony before Kate, and when no one writes back to him, he is essentially trying to fit himself into that mold so he can be accepted. He thinks there is something wrong with him. The show isn’t going to come out and say it (the same way Benedict doesn’t say I’m bisexual) but what is written in his journal is very much the definition of demisexuality. He has been sleeping around but doesn’t find fulfillment unless it’s with feelings and he doesn’t understand that until Penelope. So when they are at odds, he can’t bring himself to be intimate with Penelope because his feelings aren’t right. He sleeps in the next room so she knows he isn’t somewhere else (like when she questions him in front of the modiste’s). And his response to learning about LW is very much a trauma response from Marina, who did try to entrap him by lying about loving him. The incident made him insecure about his own judgement and self worth. So now once again, he finds out the woman he’s going to marry is lying to him, what else could she by lying about, like loving him. I hope this context helps. Colin is my favorite character and I relate to him a lot. Regarding Michaela, I’ll just say that I know Francesca is now married on the show but her book’s story hasn’t happened yet. This is very early setup for her story. I think that’s it, sorry for the essay, but I know you’re both understanding and empathetic and would appreciate the context. You’re doing amazing!

2025-06-25 03:27:07 +0000 UTCOK, so I don’t know if you know this, but Bridgerton is based off a set of books so technically there are spoilers if you have read the books you kind of know what is going to happen. What I will say is the beautiful black woman that they introduced at the end of this episode is a spinoff of a different character in the books so I’m not sure if the storyline will be the same, but there is a reason for that look which makes it seem like the storyline will be the same. If you wanna know, I’ll come back and spoil it for you
