Doctor Who - Season 2 Episode 3 (FULL REACTION)

Doctor Who - Season 2 Episode 3 (FULL REACTION)

Comments

I started watching Doctor Who (Tom Baker) with Sarah Jane in 1980 on PBS in St.Louis Missouri and I have been a big fan of the Doctor Who stories ever since. Those 2, Tom Baker and Sarah Jane were my favorite doctor and favorite companion in the classic Doctor who and then in the newer Doctor Who showings David Tennet and Billie Piper became my favorite doctor and companion. A super good episode and then to make it even better K-9 was brought back and who didn't just adore K-9 and the relationship between Tom Baker and K-9 made the show that much more fun. This episode is definitely one of the greatest episodes of Doctor Who in my humble opinion.

I whole-heartedly agree. I personally recommend the Fourth Doctor serial "Genesis of the Daleks".

Ha, Anthony Stewart Head... I've been seeing him in Ted Lasso, which I'm currently watching; another great show.

I really do hope you'll give The Sarah-Jane Adventures a go. There have been very few reactors for that series;but it's great fun,and it needs more love! And,of course, you definitely need to react to a story or two of Sarah-Jane in Classic Who :)

Ian Smith

To be fair to Rose, her whole view of the Doctor had just crashed. Here she thought she was special, and suddenly she comes across someone the Doctor cherished as much as he does Rose. I think her reaction is very human. We all get a little petty and mean occasionally, even when it's irrational.

Honestly one of the best episodes of the David Tennant Era. Sarah Jane Smith is one of my all time favorite characters!

Josh

fully agree with you here

The Rose and Sarah laughing scene is top tier πŸ˜‚ fun fact, David Tennant walked in to the scene with a clown nose on his face to get that genuine reaction from Elizabeth Sladen and Billie Piper (:

Sarah Jane is just as at fault as Rose. They were both arguing and Sarah Jane Started it. The thing no one points out is how Rose was the first one to realize how stupid the arguing was. My favorite scene in the episode is when they’re laughing at their old adventures together. The comment about Mickey coming along is so out of place because the next episode she seems fully on board with Mickey coming along so I think that was a writing error. Keep in mind this episode was not written by the head writer. Overall people are very unfair to Rose this episode. Again no one points out Mickey’s comments on how Rose is gaining weight and how he’s shoving it in her face about the Doctor not being perfect. All the characters have faults, it what makes them enjoyable.

I always thought Rose's writing was unfair to her this episode-especially with how inconsistent her reactions to mickey are. But on rewatch this time I realised that actually, Sarah is the one to initiate the hostility with her comments about Rose's age. It's odd that Rose seems to catch all the criticism for their bickering with fans.

Not a big fan of Rose this episode. She sounds very petty and childish, plus her reaction to Mickey wanting to travel with them was a bit mean. Like, when she needs his help great, but after that it's "see you later, I'm off to explore the universe with the alien I'm in love with, but please wait around for me to get back?" Nah, Mickey deserved better than that.

Sarah Jane Smith is many fans favorite companion. She joined the Third Doctor and went on to see the Fourth Doctor through several series. After this episode, there was a spinoff called The Sarah Jane Adventures, aimed at younger viewers. It's actually very good, lasting several series itself until Elisabeth Sladen died of cancer.
