Alec may be smart but he's also blinded by not only his feelings, but what Izzy said. She basically told him to start trusting people more so he did. He trusted Jace's opinion and he was suspicious but you also have to remember Valentine is very good at tricking people. Of course he might use feelings to blind judgement. I felt so bad for Magnus this episode, but also Alec because that is a scary place to be put in. If it wasn't Magnus and he did help, imagine what that might have done to everyone. I just hate how Magnus had to be reminded of his worst memory.

Sebastian is one of my favorite characters in this series and in the books and I’m so happy to see you enjoying what he brings to the table. And now we now Jace’s real family and last name! Third time is a charm I guess. Can’t wait to see the rest of your reactions!
