The believe that Israel through some sex blackmail scheme could control the US government is nonsense. I have studied international relations and know a lot more about how the world works but it still baffles me how little most people know. People believing that the mossad could run such an operation over decades to blackmail the US government into doing what it wants. That is a childlike view of the world. Let me explain how it actually is. Democracies generally are fairly close. Did you know that modern democracies have never fought a war against each other? Did you also know that democracies are as warlike as autocracies but they far more often win their wars? Ok, so democracies generally get along and prefer each other company over anocracies and autocracies. Why does the US support Israel? Why does the US support Saudi Arabia (The greatest buyer of US weapons)? Why does it support Egypt (after Israel the greatest recipient of US aid)? Why does the US support Jordan? And Qatar and United Emirates and Turkey. Because the middle east is the most important region on the planet. For many reasons it is the most vital region on the planet. And the US has now serious competitors again. Especially China and India. That's why Saudi Arabia can throw Washington Post journalists into a meat grinder. That's why Jordan can run huge torture prisons, Egypt can abolish democracy and Israel can turn Gaza into a parking lot.
