Development Update - Mid May

Hey everyone!

We've got a few updates below for our upcoming releases.

Side Paths (Update 5):

We have been talking with our programmer, and implementing the side paths is way more complicated than we thought. We wanted them to be accessible at any time by the player and for you to be able to hop in and out of them as you please. However, that's not possible in RenPy (the game engine). We tried several things, and at the moment, if we were to go with the original plan, you wouldn't be able to pause or roll back while playing a side path. You also wouldn't be able to save during it and would have to complete it to go back to the main story and save the progress you made on the side path.

As you can see, it would suck. A lot.

Therefore, we'll create points in the game where you have the choice to play the side paths or not. We will make three points per Realm to offer you this choice. In Realm 3, we will put them after Update 4, 9 and at the end of the Realm.

We're after Update 4, and the side paths aren't yet ready. You'll have to wait until after Update 9 (or we may add earlier access points while developing the Patreon releases). But believe me, it will be worth the wait!

Since the last update, Kagome's side path has been posed, and now we're working on Zyair's path. (The two previews below do not have their final lighting).

Main Story (Update 6):

Update 6 is pretty much done. We have some renders to redo, but 97% of the images are entirely done. We're currently rendering the animations, and three out of six have been rendered. All have been lit, though.

This will be the update we release during May, and we will confirm release dates soon.

Main Story (Update 7):

We have already started working on Update 7 lighting. There is a big scene during this update, and Luceian is working on it while Shoe_Lac3 is busy with the post-work of Update 6. Hopefully, this will help us release Update 7 quicker.
