Hi all! Here's my UNCUT reaction to the film "Christmas In Connecticut" (1945) and again, WHAT a film!
A superb screwball comedy, with some twists that I didn't see coming! I really enjoyed it and it was great to see Barbara Stanwyck doing a comedy film, seeing as other films I've seen her in for the channel have been serious roles.
I can see why apparently this is a big Christmas classic up there with the likes of Holiday Inn... funnily enough, I do make remark that the house set reminds me a lot of Holiday Inn, as I thought maybe they'd re-used the set... they haven't, but maybe they used part of the sound stage, not sure.
Also, I know many might say that this film shares the same set as Bringing Up Baby, but from doing a fair bit of research into it and studying photos from both, I don't believe it is the same set. There's so many rumours online saying it likely is, but there's no hard fact that it is and the Bringing Up Baby set is a lot smaller.
Also, likely it would be two locations anyway, as the exterior of the house shots in Bringing Up Baby was a real house (for the most part), shot on Encino Ranch, whereas in this film the house set is on a sound stage. They do look similar though and maybe they did do extensive re-modelling... but I can't see it, as it's so much bigger for the most part in this film. I could be wrong.
Anyway! Thank you for requesting this film, I hope you enjoy my reaction... and a VERY early Merry Christmas again haha!
