Hi all! An intriguing choice of film today, and one of those films that has many filmmaking classes point to. Here's my UNCUT reaction to "28 Days Later" (2002).
I watched this as part of a challenge that my friend gave me a few days ago, which was for me to watch both this and "28 Weeks Later" yesterday, within 6 hours before we went to see "28 Years Later" last night! I took up the challenge and documented bits of it along the way (for a YouTube short / the "28 Years" review, which I'm hoping to get out on here as soon as I can, once edited.
I really liked this film, with fantastic cinematography and a great story. I must admit, now after seeing both this, the 2nd and the new one, it is obvious that Danny Boyle had a very important way that he had wanted to portray the world in the film, because he came back with the third one and seemingly tries to re-write some (if not all) of the second film, to get back to the feeling of this film. I would say, if you liked this film and didn't like the second or was put off by it being an erratic zombie film, I genuinely mean that you will love the new one. It goes back to this feeling and shows even more of the humanity aspect.
This isn't me saying that the 2nd film isn't good, because it does a great job telling it's story, but it didn't feel like a natural successor to this, especially with how it ended. The new "Years" film definitely seemed more of a successor.
I really hope you enjoy my reaction and thoughts to this!
