Hi all! WHAT A FILM! This is "The Lighthouse" (2019) and it's an absolute cinematic masterpiece. Not only is the cinematography stunning... but the script writing is spectacular (once you get past the early dialogue's audio levels being fairly quiet at the start, which possibly aligns with how they feel towards each other).
I knew it would be amazing, but didn't realise just how amazing! I'm not trying to overhype it, but I do think if you love psychological horrors, you will adore this.
The performances of Dafoe and Pattinson are insane (in the very literal sense as well) and it BLOWS MY MIND that apparently this only got put up for ONE Oscar?!! Yes, that Oscar was for the cinematography and rightfully so, as it's some of the most beautiful art I've seen in a while... but apparently the academy pretty much ignored it otherwise. HOW?! ... Have you seen what they DO give Oscars too most of the time?!
Anyway... I really do hope you'll love watching along with me. It's a slow burner at first, but it left me with my mouth open by the end.
Enjoy everyone!
