EARLY ACCESS (WITH TRIVIA) | Young Sherlock Holmes (1985) Movie Reaction

UPDATE: I've now edited the entire video including the trivia and my thoughts. It took some time to collate the information, but I hope you enjoy this very extended edit of the previous version!

Here's the edited down reaction for "Young Sherlock Holmes" (1985), which I thoroughly loved.

This will be out next on the channel. I'm not sure when, but probably in the next few days.

I hope you're all having a wonderful day and week.

Take care!

EARLY ACCESS (WITH TRIVIA) | Young Sherlock Holmes (1985) Movie Reaction

Exactly! Yeah, it's far too similar in many ways. It's basically Potter without the magic lol

Nigel Stock (Professor Wagstaff) had played Watson opposite Peter Cushing in the 1960s version of Sherlock Holmes. While Patrick Newell (Mr Bobster) had played Lestrade in a Polish version. He was also the victim in The Resident Patient episode of the Jerremy Brett series which came out the same year as this film.

Sir Michael Hordern was a great actor on stage and screen. He was Cicero in Cleopatra opposite Taylor and Burton. He was Jacob Marley in Scrooge (1951). But he was particularly great in his voice work. He not only narrated Paddington but also Watership Down (that's a classic that deserves a reaction) He was Badger in Wind in the Willows opposite David Jason's Toad. Finally he was the original Gandalf in the 13 hour BBC radio version of LOTR in 1981. If you fancy doing a radio reaction, that would be a great one to cover.

It is a great adventure film that deserved to do a lot better than it did. It somehow got lost in the mid eighties rush of family films. The stained window knight was the very first computer generated character used in film and topped of the superb scenery and traditional effects. Both Nicholas Rowe and Alan Cox (son of Brian Cox) were great in the lead roles and went on to have respectable acting careers. Rowe actually played an actor playing Holmes in a play watch by an elderly Holmes in the film Mr Holmes starring Ian McKellan.

As someone who isn’t a Harry Potter fan, it can’t be a coincidence that Rowling saw this movie imo
