UNCUT | Double Indemnity (1944) Movie Reaction

Hi all! We're watching another requested classic today, "Double Indemnity" (1941). Thank you for this, I'd heard it mentioned before, so the name was familiar... but hadn't a clue what it was about.

I thoroughly enjoyed Barbara's acting in this, with her emotions seeping through more and more as the film went on. You start to see it early on and little hints pop through, like in the dark kitchen scene. It's so good! The tension of this and you also knowing what's going on and seeing everyone slowly work it out, was fantastic.

Anyway, I hope you can join me for this one and I hope you enjoy!

Take care

You watch the great Edward G. Robinson in "Scarlet Street" and "Woman in the Window", I believe - he was one of the most versatile actors out there, all the more surprising because you'd think his distinctive voice and physicality would type him. But no! Stanwyck, like Bette Davis, could do anything, just anything, from stone cold to melt your heart. People of my generation knew MacMurray from the tv series "My Three Sons" and it was a great shock to see him here. Phyllis said she looked up Walter's name in the phone book. Carol Burnett, who loved classic movies, did a bunch of parodies on her show, and for some of them, I knew these parodies before watching the actual movie. Here's the parody of this movie. The Neff character is played by talented singer/actor Steve Lawrence, who was a frequent and welcome guest on the show. He and his wife, Eydie Gorme, formed a popular singing duet. Anyway: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3sPzZpMTs4 for part one and for part two: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1s-m6TAH_8 And for a bonus, a family favorite from Steve and Eyde: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_t4CjDyoYM, which in turn is from a musical "On A Clear Day". Enjoy!

Cool, I'll be checking this out, thanks for doing this one, Glad you're getting better. My favorite line from this movie is when Walter is narrating and says something like 'I couldn't hear my footsteps, I was like a ghost' I thought that was a great line amongst many. This is the movie were Wilder famously threw the script across the room at Raymond Chandler and said "This is crap!". It was a good catch when you said "To Close" But you missed what Barton's Response was. Walter said "You were To close, It was right across the desk" and then Barton responded "It was a lot closer than that Walter". Which I thought was an interesting response. Anyway good reaction.

Ooh! Thank you, I had completely passed by that this was the same director. Thank you so much for that. I'll make sure to add that in as a note, if I remember to
