UNCUT | To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) Movie Reaction [Trivia Yet To Be Edited]

Hi all! It's here! My uncut reaction to "To Kill A Mockingbird" (1962).

Thank you all for waiting! I did have a little issue with the film file, as it had glitched due to a disc error I believe. For now, for this uncut though, I managed to sort it.

As for the film, it really told the story of Tom and everything surrounding him with the town's people very well. It's appalling to me that people used to be like that, for them to be so racist and just presume they are a bad person, but I do know that racist people like that did exist and some still exist to this day.

The film does a brilliant job at portraying how things should be like through our main character played by Gregory Peck. His character seems like a genuinely kind man with great morals.

I hope you like my thoughts on this too throughout the film and my getting emotional at the realisation of what was happening with Tom and what end up happening to him. Heartbreaking, to say the least. Especially when there may have been some way of a re-trial.

Have a lovely day everyone!

There was recently a touring company production of TKAM that played my town. Miss Dubose was played by Mary Badham who played Scout in this movie.

Great reaction. The dog had rabies - there was and is no cure. Killing the dog was actually merciful. The issue with Walter and the syrup is that pouring syrup on meat was an indicator of class. Walter was showing that he was "white trash."

That's okay Scott, not to worry. I've got a ton of physical media features that I've yet to go through, so it could be in there. If not, I may be able to do some research and find it or something that references it. Yeah I've seen a few interviews done, but weirdly none with her. At least not from the quick look I had. Harper Lee documentaries might be the way to go. It was helpful you mentioning they went to where Harper Lee grew up. Ohh cool, that's a great insight, thank you! She did play it phenomenally well, as did Peck and Badham.

I can't be sure where I saw that interview. I think there was a documentary on one of the documentary type channels on cable at the time. It was a special on To Kill a Mockingbird and they went and visited the town where Harper Lee lived. I wish I could remember more about it. I think if you did a search on the actresses name on youtube maybe you would find that interview. Or maybe if you looked for documentaries on Harper Lee you would find it. She was a really underrated actress, very smart, and she knew the south, that why she did that part so well.

Hi Scott! Thank you so much for commenting, apologies it took me SO long to reply though. Thank you so much for the extra info. I've already recorded done the trivia for this, but I shall definitely try to incorporate these into it if I can. If I had time to read the book at the moment now, I would, just to add in extra context to everything. However, with your notes and anything I can find, I shall certainly try. Just for knowing the info though, your notes are very helpful. The notes on Miss Debois is a VERY interesting added context, something that adds that unique layer. I do wish they had incorporated that into the film in some way. Yeah! That part about them staying friends I'd spotted in the trivia, it's wonderful they did. They had a real father/daughter chemistry in this. Oh wow... do you know where I could find that interview please? Was it on the physical media, or just an extra one somewhere. I'd be interested in including a clip in the main video if possible. Thank you for letting me know. Crazy that they would turn up to an audition for a role like that. Oh wait, THE dress in the film is THAT dress too?! WOW! I need to try to get hold of that interview. Thank you! Yeah, same here, the film really had an impact on me and I'm proud to be able to bring it as the next video to be fair, to get it out there just that little bit more. I'm sure mostly everyone has seen it, but there might be a few I can introduce to it. It's so impactful and powerful. Yes! Those opening credits are beautifully shot. You're very welcome, I really appreciate your love for the film too, as it's truly deserved. Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Despite my emotional wreck of a face at times haha. Take care Scott!

Most definitely a lot of moments in there that teach lessons, not just to the character, but also to the viewer. It was an incredibly powerful film. Yes! That "stand up" line was another powerful moment. It really does put things into context that some people really have taken a step backward or not gone anywhere at all and are still very much like some of those in this too. I certainly will read the book at some point though, I'm sure there are so many parts they had to remove for the film. Thank you Robert! I'm so sorry it took me so long to reply

Scott’s comments are so true. So many teachable moments in this film. Read the book for class, shown the film and student debate following. It was an integral part of my education. “ Stand up- Your Fathers passing” says it all to me….

Great reaction really enjoyed it. Just a couple of facts or fun facts that I know about this movie. I read the book on this years ago. I don’t remember very much about it, but I do remember this one fact,, Miss Debois who sat on the porch and called Scout an ugly girl. Was an opium addict and didn’t have a lot longer to live, and so she decided that she was going to quit opium before she died, and this is why she’s sitting on the porch in a surly mood all the time. Atticus knows about this and considers her a very brave woman. That’s just something you don’t get in the movie. Gregory Peck and Mary Badham remain friends for the rest of their lives after this film and continued to call each other, Atticus and scout respectively. I saw an interview with the girl who played the rape victim and she said before she went and auditioned, she bought an old dress at a secondhand store and put some stuff in her hair to make it look, you know straight and stuff and she went to the audition that way. All the other girls at the audition were dressed up all pretty. It’s like they didn’t understand what the part was about so she got the part and the dress you see her wearing in the movie is the dress that she bought at that secondhand store. Anyway, I really love this film. I love everything about it from the opening credits to the very last part. It’s like a perfect movie so thanks a lot for reacting to it. It was a lot of fun.
