Added 2024-03-20 11:40:10 +0000 UTCWow! I watched Boy from 2010 and was in awe at the wonderful beauty of it.
Taika perfectly portrayed small town life, most likely because this was shot in his home town! I only find that out in the trivia afterwards though.
I'll be adding the Boy trivia as soon as I can, as there isn't too much.
Due to there not being as much, I also went ahead and checked out "Two Cars, One Night" (2004) which is a short film by Taika that "Boy" was based on. Whilst the short film reaction will be added to the end of the main video, I'll post the uncut version separately tomorrow, that way you can sync it up if you'd like.

It really is so lovely! It really felt it was made from the heart. Ooh, thank you, I'd actually looked into the Māori dance and the song etc, as I was curious. It looks amazing and I believe Poi E was the one I'd found it out to be. I don't think I found that part out about it being a hit in 1983 though, thank you. Ohh, I didn't know that was the name for those! (I forgot if I did find that out). Lol I'd have done the same thing! I can imagine it's quite difficult to do. Well done for trying it though. I'd love to try it at least once.

Bit of trivia: the song at the end is Poi E, a #1 hit in New Zealand from 1983, and the choreography is a combination of movements from traditional Māori dance and of course Michael Jackson's Thriller video. The young ladies are swinging 'poi' which are the balls on the ends of tethers, and the one who played Chardonnay is quite good. I tried poi spinning once with a dancer friend of mine here in Ohio, and banged myself on the forehead, lol
