EARLY ACCESS | Arsenic & Old Lace (1944) Movie Reaction | FIRST TIME WATCHING | Film Commentary * HILARIOUS! *

We're finally getting to a point again where I'm a little ahead of myself! I loved this one so much and it was a choice from my own list of films I've been wanting to watch for years. It's absolutely hilarious and one of my favourites.

I hope you can join me with this early access that will be going out next week on the channel.

Grab your popcorn and get ready for a treat this spooky season! It only occurred to me the other day that having now seen a few spooky films, it's actually perfect timing with the time of year. It wasn't the intention, it just happened as this one especially is set at Halloween! (I had no idea going into it)

P.S. I hope you like the thumbnail... with me being gagged and tied up muahahaha! I always try to be creative with them.

Thank you for watching Scott! You need to check it out for yourself though sometime, as much as I showed, there's definitely some visual gags that I try to keep as much of but may mess up the delivery of them when editing. Yeah, Grant is superb in his roles. Such a brilliant and well ranged actor. Yeah, I love his over the top acting, but can see that it may not work in any other type of film. After all, this one was a stage play, so technically a little ham up or over-acting works well. They all did so well and Grant's comedic timing is definitely fantastic. Yeah his subtle looks and quips are some of the best. Ooh yes, The Philadephia Story and His Girl Friday are two I've been wanting to check out (I really want to see the latter) Ahh North by Northwest is another great I've missed so far! Hoping to watch all these films in time on the channel, and as these are on your list, brilliant!! Oh yes, Bringing Up Baby is a film many people have mentioned about recently to me! (This past week, in fact!) Thank you again for watching Scott, it's very much appreciated. Take care, Marty

As I don't own a copy of this film, I've just now watched the YouTube version of your reaction to this and it was great fun. Cary Grant is definitely one of my favorite Golden Age actors with his debonaire, leading-man looks and style combined with his acting skills and wonderful comedic timing. I do have to say that I agree with him on this film, that his mugging and overall performance was quite over-the-top, but I do think it mostly works for this film. I really enjoy it, though, when his comedy skills are used in a bit more of a subtle way. There are several films of his that I'm very likely to request from you at some point, my favorite being The Philadelphia Story. He's also fantastic in His Girl Friday, which has just about the fastest-paced dialogue of any film I've ever seen, and I love him in Hitchcock's North by Northwest, as well. So put a pin in those three, if you haven't seen them already, because they are on my list for you! Another of his must-see films is Bringing Up Baby, which is also a madcap comedy.
