I think the thing missing is that Carano can't act. I love her action sequences. I feel like her fights look like an MMA fight and not like a director's idea of a fight. The deliberate pacing and very realistic fights and little things like escaping the police swat team by looking like a drunk homeless person seemed to add a level of realism that more contrived scenes and Hollywood stunt choreography can't pull off. But the heart of any performance is truly the acting. Sadly Carano's version of acting is biting her lip and frowning. That's pretty much the limit and that's why there's a big hole in the middle of this film.

2025-10-10 01:41:57 +0000 UTCI did smile when you went from not sure of the names and not sure why they haven't spelled out the story more to complaining that they want to show her jewelry in the dead man's hand. I think you are supposed to realize when she does, that she is being set up. It's supposed to creep up on you although you do have some forewarning with the intro fight when she refuses to go with Aaron. Interesting that you compare it to Bond films. Much like the early Bond films they talk about a place for one minute and the next scene they are there. Very little motivation offered for the locations. The movie is mostly a vehicle for Carano to fight guys just as Bond films are vehicles for Bond to fight and of course for him to pick up women. There's just enough mystery and intrigue to make the story watchable. Plus they seriously stacked the male actors. It's a hell of a cast supporting Carano and her rather weak acting is more than made up for by her scene partners.
