Hello Patreon,
So, you know Geoguesssr? The online game where you’re placed somewhere on Google Street View, and you have to look around for clues and guess where you are by clicking as close as possible on the world map?
Mark and I have made an extra special, bonus, improvised, slightly last minute, sub-episode of Map Men where we play each other at Geoguessr. For the very first time, we’re putting our genuine geography general knowledge to the test - with very real consequences for the loser.
I won’t lie, the people at Geoguessr did give us money. But we were considering doing something just like this anyway. And if we were ever going to dedicate a full video to a sponsor, I can’t think of any brand or product that more closely aligns with exactly what Map Men are/is* all about.
The video is an unprecedented 29 minutes long! (Even with all the bits where we're staring silently at our laptops edited out). So it’s more possible than ever that this video is filled with glitches. Eg an audio edit mid-word, or a score being added up wrong, or my voice coming out of Mark’s mouth, etc.
So, as ever, we’d be incredibly grateful for your help. Whoever spots the most glitches will win a chocolate biscuit of their choice in the post.
Anyway! Really hope you like this one, and really keen to hear your feedback.
There will be lots of bonus material exclusive to Patreon from this video, including our full unedited games, and more of Mark’s…. Thing. Won’t say what the Thing is, you’ll have to watch the video. But suffice to say, the Thing is completely real and genuinely happened.
Thanks again! Best wishes and yours sincerely and thanks again and best wishes;
Jay
* Is it "are" or "is"? Genuinely not sure. Spose it depends whether "Map Men" is just the name of the show, or whether we, Mark and me, are the actual Map Men. Maybe it's a US/UK thing? Dunno. Something to think about.
