Watch MAP MEN ep22... NOW!!!

Well, here it is folks. This most recent series of Map Men has been our longest ever, but all long things must come to an end, and it's high time Mark and I changed our clothes.

We've saved a really good one til last... all about the surprisingly contentious topic of English counties. This was quite tricky to research, so thank you so much to everyone on twitter who helped us out and sent us useful links (more than a year ago!)

There's a longer gap than usual between now and when this video goes fully public (cos I'm going away this weekend), so, remember, keep this video super secret! This is for nobody's eyes or ears apart from you wonderful amazing people on Patreon who literally make this whole endeavour possible, and no one else.... until Monday at about tea time.

As has become tradition, you are more than welcome, nay encouraged, to butt in and let us know if you spot any terrible mistakes in this video that can conceivably be fixed in the next day or two. This being our longest ever episode, there are probably more of them than usual.

So that's it.... I can hardly believe it's over. The good news is, we're now finally able to share all the outtakes and bloopers and deleted scenes from the last series. So, if you're on one of the higher tiers, look out for those coming very soon indeed.

I'll post here again very shortly after the video goes out with news of More Things coming on my YouTube channel soon... so keep an eye out for that. In the meantime, have a lovely Wednesday!

Many many many thanks indeed, bosses! (That's what you are!)

Jay

P.S. Do stick around til the very end of this episode.  I put an extra last-minute addition over the credits this morning which I really hope you'll like.

Jay thanks mate you’ve made an Aussie in lockdown happy for the night. Love the song at the end we will get that as a separate video ala like the Tube Station style…..

Thanks so much for this! This is my favourite kind of Wikipedia article. I'm disappointed I didn't manage to get a screenshot of it for the "research" scene near the beginning. There were so many sections in this episode that could have gone into five times as much detail, but it's already our longest episode ever, and we had to carefully choose what to keep in that best served our "story". As long as we gave the impression that those weren't the only exclaves and that there were squillions of them, hopefully we did the job.

Jay Foreman

You could have doubled the length by going into the (mentioned) exclaves https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_county_exclaves_in_England_and_Wales_1844–1974

oh I so do love overcomplicated things. cool episode

Thoroughly enjoyed this episode and the whole series. Thanks Jay and Mark!

Thank you for the Herefordshire/Hertfordshire nod. As a Herefordian it's a constant bone of contention

"not much of a monkeys is given about the county you live in" is a lovely sentence though.

Martin Deutsch

According to the subtitles (thanks again for the subtitles) in the 1080s, the Normas did a survey. Now I'm typing that I can't tell if it's a joke or a typo, but I thought I'd mention it.

Brilliant work as ever! Makes me proud to be a yorkshireman, even if I get lost in the whole Cleveland/ Redcar and Cleveland/ Tees valley nonsense.

Ben Atkinson

thanks for making Texas' 254 counties look sane and reasonable

As an immigrant to Ireland, "oh OK, it could be worse".
