FOUR things......

Darling Patron,

(No. “Darling” is too strong… erm…)

Hi Patron,

(No, that’s boring… errr….)

OHHHHHHHHH Patron,

(Perfect!)

I thought since it’s both Christmas AND a long while since we last spoke, now was a good time to send y’alls a message with some updates and some things. There are FOUR of them. Here they are in numerical order...

1. FUTURE VIDEO NEWS
As we speak, Paul and I are working on episodes 9 and 10 at the same time of Unfinished London. We’re currently at the “the scripts look nearly finished” stage of the project, but script writing is a bit like the blue loading bar when you’re downloading a massive file - it’ll hover teasingly around “99% done” for about 98% of the time, and the words “nearly finished” mean diddly jack. Anyway, the first of these new Unfinished Londons should be ready in… I dunno… March? April maybe? Oh god, it all takes so long. The effort-to-result ratio of these videos is just so mind-miserablingly unfavourable.

2. SKYLINES PODCAST WITH JONN ELLEDGE
Here’s me being interviewed by John Elledge off of CityMetric. If you’ve ever read an article about something geeky to do with urban planning in London, there’s around a 70% chance it was written by him, so it was great for me to finally meet in the flesh the man whose research I’d spent the last decade stealing from. You might enjoy this if you’ve been following the me vs Woking saga on Twitter - we talk about that for ages! (Starts at 21:53)

3. INTERVIEW
Here’s me being interviewed by Liam Taylor off of the Conversation Hat podcast. It’s very in-depth. He asked me about my musical influences, how I write songs, and how much the internet has changed since the early 2000s when badger badger badger badger was entertainment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6cTI_cU8Sg

4. CHOIR
And finally, this lovely thing: About a year ago, a man emailed me saying he had a choir, and could he have permission to teach it to them and get them to sing it in a really complicated arrangement with loads of harmonies? I said yes, and here’s the result: The Every Tube Station song sung in a church by a choir. This is just so mad and lovely and impressive and silly and bonkers and Christmassy. Hope you enjoy it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tGySs8QnoY

That's all four of the things.* Once again, I just want to stress very stressfully and heartfeltly that your support doesn't go unappreciated. I'm really very very thankful indeed for your continued support, and I'm very excited to put your support to good use in 2020 and make lots and lots more things, all of which you'll see before anybody else because you're the BEST!!!

I wish all of you a very enjoyable Christmas, a very enjoyable New Year, and a very enjoyable perineum between Christmas and New Year where you don't know what day of the week it is and you don't get any proper work done.

See you in 2020!

Jay

*If you're a £10 or more patron... there's an extra special FIFTH thing on its way in the next few minutes.....
