My sincerest apologies for the wall of text lol

So I watched this yesterday and again today when it premiered. I wanted to marinate on a lot of the points you had made as they were both carefully worded and thoughtfully made. First off, congrats on the really thorough and thoughtful analysis. In a similar(ish) vein to D'angelo Wallace, the way you both layout your points and go through them is a rare sight in online discourse. So truly well done on that. Second, you have my sympathies in advance as I know you've already gotten, and probably will get, hate mobs your way. Watching this shortly before watching Lindsay Ellis's new video on cancelling was interesting and actually helped me think through what the fundamental concern I have with this phenomenon. 1.) We have both a very poor legal and cultural appreciation for the right to privacy. It seems that we're perfectly comfortable stealing people's stories and lives but draw a line at their property 2.) We're so quick to make excuses or have empathy towards abusers. We conceptualize online hate hobs (and paparazzi) as people who are hurt and lash out or have to do it for their job*. It reminds me a lot of how massshooters are described. Most people are bullied and ostracized in high school but very few of us end up murdering other people I don't necessarily 100% agree with both of those above points, but I think it's evident from case studies of the women in the video that we have more empathy for harassers than the women being targeted * On the paparazzi. You can get a job that doesn't involve harassing people. And the industry can be systematically bad, but that does not absolve you of participation. Even if each of us indivudally isn't the CEO of Apple choosing to mistreat their workers (which is a nice way to put it), by buying Apple products we are partially at fault. And this fault increases exponentially if you choose to work for Apple. The same I'd argue can be said about paparazzi and similar people in the entertainment industry

Spectacular again, i really enjoy and learn with every one of your videos. I work as a cinematographer and I can't imagine all the work behind every one them. Thank you so much for doing it!
