Greetings adventurers!
Deep within a long forgotten cathedral, one lone parishioner still makes his pilgrimage to pay respects to the lord he worships. The beads clutched tightly in his hands and an unfamiliar symbol hangs from the necklace, both intriguing and ominous. He creaks open the door to the altar and kneels in front of it offering his prayers to his lord who rises once more to meet the man. A pale visage stares down down on him and sharpened teeth expose themselves in his cold smile.

Design notes from Matthew:
We take item suggestions from our Kollaborator tier if you didn’t know it and this is one of those actually. We have a patron who really enjoys the concepts of vampirism and the ability to transfer health to someone else depending on the situation you’re in. This seemed like a natural fit for us to make something that brought the two together.
This was one of the easier items for me to develop. I had a very clear idea of what I wanted to do with both the theming and the actual function of the item itself. It’s somewhat basic in the end. It allows you to flavor things in an interesting way and lets you alter all spells in a somewhat useful way where necrotic can be quite a beneficial damage type.
Finally, the ability to choose when to take that damage and transfer it to someone else is a powerful thing to have on your side. I’ve been a big fan of items that scale with players lately so basing it off your proficiency bonus just made sense in the end. Also it scales off the damage and HP you have which is rad.
Illustration notes from Fernando:
The art for this one was pretty straight forward, we wanted like a dark, vampiric version of a rosary. That doesn’t leave a ton of room for artistic interpretation other than the pendant part and a corrupted ankh felt like the right fit for the mechanics of this item since the ankh represent life and the corruption shows there’s something dark about it.
Unfortunately not a whole lot more to say about this one, I just really focused on making the ankh pendant pop and tried to give the beads and string an interesting shape.
We’re definitely open to design ideas from our Kollaborator tier patrons. In fact it’s one of the perks we offer. Some of them take a bit of time to come to fruition, but if you have something you would like to see from us, feel free to share it in the item pitch channel on our discord!
We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
