Hide Away Sleigh

Greetings adventurers!

We were working on some inventory in the shop this afternoon when a rather rotund man in an ostentatious red suit made his way through the door. We’ve had all sorts walk into the shop over the years so his choice of outfit wasn’t of much concern until he made his way to the counter and plopped down a sack dressed with holly berries and asked what I would give him for it. He explained that he was in package delivery, but was getting out of the gig due to the proliferation of the Smiling Rainforest company. We agreed on a price and he went along his merry way, and we ended up with a fancy new sleigh!

Design notes from Matthew:

I could sit here and wax poetic about the mechanics and where the idea came from, so on so forth, but we all know what’s up with this one. It’s the holidays and we wanted to make something cool to celebrate it. I haven’t ever designed a land vehicle before so I thought it would be the perfect time to give it a shot considering the nature of a sleigh.

Really the ultimate problem with this kind of thing is how cumbersome it can be to know what to do with a mount after you get it. Do you leave your fancy friend in the stables or sitting outside a dungeon in wild lands? Well that always rubbed me a little wrong. It made sense that truly enterprising individuals would want to keep their goods on them in a way that made it convenient, so a hide away sleigh is what came forth.

It’s always nice to solve little problems like that with a magic item. It would also be incredibly stylish to roll into a new town like this. You would certainly turn some heads.

When Matthew mentioned the idea I wasn’t jazzed about it, but once he covered the mechanics I was fully on board (no pun intended). I love the image of this thing popping out, running over a bunch of gnolls with it, and they can’t chase you because you’re leaving an ice trail behind.

We explored a bunch of different designs before settling on this more traditional look, I wanted to stay away from red and gold for the color so I went with a more traditional wintery palette of blue and silver. Unintentionally, this makes the carrying bag stand out more, so win-win.

I wanted to take some time to thank everyone as it’s officially been one year since we launched this Patreon. The support we’ve seen has been incredible and Fernando and I are so thankful to have it. You all have been amazing in helping us keep this going and growing it from a fun little idea into a viable passion project. Thank you again for your generosity, support, and kindness.
