Greetings everyone!
It's time for another entry from our backlog to get updated to our new formats and this time it's the Azimuth Chalice. Every other week we release an updated version of one of our backlog items so that you can always have access to our items in the freshest formats.
A look back from Matthew:
This was a fascinating one to work on as it was one of the first items that we created with a fan. We celebrated hitting 2000 followers by randomly picking one person from Twitter to make an item with us and for this one, we happened to pick Jonathan from Mythical Mystery Games and he was an absolute blast to work with.
This was all about the duality of light and dark in space and the theme carried throughout the item. I remember that we had a nice chat with Jonathan one night and it was pretty great to just sit down and has out the broader strokes in one evening. We ended up with this dual chalice that could produce light or darkness.
I loved the idea at the time and still enjoy it quite a lot. There's a unique challenge in dealing with dark and light in D&D in that darkvision is so prevalent but magical darkness is a bit much. We had to strike an interesting balance between the two and I think we managed.
An interesting discovery that I did notice is that we're now about halfway through our backlog of items that were created before we launched our Patreon. I'm excited to keep moving through them!
You can find complete downloads below with all of the formats that we normally only offer for our patrons. These backlog items will be publicly available for you to get a sense of what kind of quality you can expect from our releases.
If you would like to gain access to these robust formats for every new magic item we release, including early access to them, consider becoming a patron.
Thanks everyone for the support. We appreciate it and can't wait to bring you more.
