Doing special effects is always a toss up for me; I'm never sure how much I wanna do as a post-production effect in Blender and how much needs to be baked in to the raw animation.
Here I'm doing some color-flashing in Flash and will add some overlays later in Blender, but in some other shots I'm leaving it all up to future Ian to handle it in post-pro LMAO...
Here's an example from BOOGIE of how the shot above might play out:

Before the car explodes, all the colors are the standard ones I used throughout the video.

After the explosion, I tweaked each color to be more orange-ish and bright.

Then finally, I composite the whole shot in blender and add a big orangey-yellowy gradient on top that only appears after the explosion!
I'd love to get into doing more fancy stuff, maybe with particles or something; but I make most of these videos on a time crunch and generally opt for the cheaper/easier option LOL
