Tales from Icewind Dale - Session 4

Session 3: 6th of Hammer, 1490 DR

We return to our heroes at the Elven Tomb, where they had camped for the night within the cleared chamber used as a living space by the Frost Druid Ravesin. With the death of Ravesin and the capture of the Awakened Moose, the tomb was open to be explored. The party discovered a strange mirror within the Moose's lair, but could not discover its purpose, as well as a tomb that had been unopened. While the complex locking system held it shut, a combination of Ta'Lua's strength and Harridan's divine assistance, the lock was broken and the tomb was exposed to the world.

[An unstrung bow found by the party and given to Preach]

Within the tomb, they discovered a sarcophagus surrounded by inscriptions of an elven hero, firing her bow at creatures that were too worn to be recognized. Opening the coffin, they found the hero clutching an unstrung bow made of living wood, and six silvered arrows. From there, they found a third sarcophagus at the highest point of the tomb, bound shut by a ritual. After burning a pinecone, a twig, the frost druid's severed hand, and an arrow, the multicoloured flames shone onto the sarcophagus, and revealed the true treasure of the temple turned tomb: The high priestess of Corellon, Sahnar.

[Corellon Larethian, creator god of all elves]

Sahnar, little more than a mummy, rose from her rest and addressed the party as friends. Killed long ago, the prideful Corellon allowed her to remain to guide her people, but she was confused as to where they had disappeared to. While Harradin was concerned, the party pledged to help her find her people, and disguised her under heavy clothes so that she wouldn't scare the townsfolk.

Moving back to Lonelywood, the party recieved 185 gold from the townsfolk, as well as a club made by the local Scrimshander, and some dwarven boots to help Harradin keep up with the party. In addition, Ta'Lua recieved the deed to the local Inn, which he pledged to get up and running once he found employees to help run it.

The next stop was Termalaine, where Harradin called upon his divine patron's aid to cure the innkeep's father, who was dying from the Creeping Cold. While he was too exhausted to speak, Marta the Innkeep thanked Harradin by passing on the Ring of Warmth that had been passed to her family long ago.

[A ring of warmth, granted to Marta's family in exchange for kindness, long ago]

While stopping in Termalaine, Harradin visited the local Gemcutter, Eirghild Baignard, to have a set of Augery dice cut. A deal was made, and it was arranged to have the finished set sent to Tyriel's tower in Bremen. Meanwhile, Preach visited her kobold tribe in the boarding house, to see her growing hoard. While it was merely a hundred gold, she appreciated it all the same, and insisted that they make more money while she sought out the missing members of their tribe. Space didn't seem to be an issue, but the Kobolds were concerned when Preach told them to dig down if space was needed. The Kobolds claimed that the basement was 'too dark', which struck Preach as odd, since Kobolds usually thrived in the darkness. Opening the basement door, she noted that it held magical darkness, before closing the door and deciding that she would come back to it later.

Leaving Termalaine, the party passed through Targos once more without stopping, and returned to Bremen. Meeting with Hlin Trollbane, they received their reward, and Harradin learned more of his original quarry, the Duergar. The towns of Easthaven and Caer Konig had seen multiple thefts lately, with the only evidence being dwarf-sized bootprints. No other evidence has come to light, but Hlin believed that it could be Duergar making use of their divine gift of invisibility. Other than that, the people of Dougen's Hole had some citizens go missing, but Hlin chalked that up to non-dwarven matters.

As it was, our adventurers end their day in Bremen, preparing to set out again come the morn.
