Yes, Lucifer really shows his true self here - he never wants humans to do anything other than express their desires... And he seems to have developed feelings for Chloe.... All of the "celestials" appear to be like teenagers, emotionally - emotions are something foreign to them so they are learning the hard way or slowly... Trepidation about Dan's possible demise is understandable, but don't dwell on it (you will understand the comments about liking Dan better after the next few episodes). There are way bigger story lines in the works than Dan's fate.
