I’d like to state for the record in the expanded universe, when Luke rebuilt the Jedi Order, he made several significant changes. One was allowing attachments to the point Jedi could get married and have children. Luke himself got married to a former Sith Assassin named Mara Jade and they had a son, Ben Skywalker. The changes did cause some problems but the benefits outweighed them.
