Hazbin Hotel Series Description:
Hazbin Hotel is an American adult animated musical comedy streaming television series created by Vivienne "VivziePop" Medrano. The series revolves around Charlie Morningstar, crown princess of Hell, on her quest to find a way for sinners to be "rehabilitated" and allowed into Heaven, via her "Hazbin Hotel", as an alternative to Heaven's annual "Extermination" of wayward souls due to Hell's overpopulation. The series is produced by independent entertainment company A24 and animation studio Bento Box Entertainment, in collaboration with Amazon Studios.
The pilot, released on YouTube on October 28, 2019, was made entirely by freelance animators and was largely financed by Medrano's Patreon followers. The first season premiered on Amazon Prime Video on January 18, 2024, with its first episode also released on YouTube on that same day for a limited release. A second season is confirmed to be in production. It has received generally positive reviews from critics.
The popularity and success of the pilot allowed Medrano to create a spin-off series called Helluva Boss, which premiered on October 31, 2020. The series features a different cast of characters within the same in-universe setting.
On January 26, 2024, it was revealed that Hazbin Hotel is the largest global debut for a new animated series on Prime Video.

I think the most fascinating thing about this show is as much as some people compare parts of it to disney, it manages to do so many taboo things while still maintaining a lighter air. I do notice some folx get sooo uncomfortable with real life issues being portrayed in cartoon form as if the medium is literally barre from such a thing-- moreso for those with little exposure to non-western cartoons, it seems. And yes, this applies to people who enjoy anime that is shounen anyway since shounen often is similar in its childish attempts to keep the medium itself quite "innocent" so to speak. I loveee this show for its ability to cross that line and show that doesn't necessarily make it overly dark, etc. If people have triggers, that is personal, but I don't think this show actually dips into anything outright nihilistic at any point really. It may be a challenge for anyone religious who lack the ability to consider their beliefs on a creative level.

2024-02-16 14:38:49 +0000 UTCOk!! So important thing to note, Alastor was SENT to the hotel by who ever HE made a deal with. The common theory is that he is under Lilith's control since they were both gone for 7 years and it's very obvious that Alastor wants to be on Charlie's good side and now he has her promised to a favor. Alastor is pursuing power and freedom but at the same time he is growing fond of the hotel. He is a fascinating character.
