its simply because they stan Dove Cameron as an actress. They use the age of her as their reasoning, while The Cavalry situation is the same, but they didn't care when May did it. And may did it do a girl much younger than Dove Cameron. It was a dishonest justification they used, because that reason wasn't used previously with the Cavalry story. Its an easy parallel to draw, not wildy different in the slightest.
