Questions?
Added 2020-03-14 14:51:36 +0000 UTCIf one were to create a retro gaming themed podcast, that allowed people to submit their own questions for discussion, what would those questions be? For example, "Why do you insist on calling Link to the Past an adventure game instead of an RPG?" or "What's the worst game you ever rented?" or something along those lines
EDIT: thank you everyone for such a great response! We'll have to break these up in groups of 4 or 5 as we go, so even if we don't get to your question in the first episode, we'll get to it eventually

Yeah we're gonna roll with bi-weekly. Looks like these will be posting on Friday mornings.

2020-03-17 00:18:55 +0000 UTC1. Before the onset of emulation, what was your gaming grail? What game did you see in Nintendo Power/EGM/Gamepro, and HAVE to have (even though you never got it)? 2. What was your hometown gaming scene like growing up (pharmacy rental games, outlet mall budget games, etc.)? 3. What is a game or series that is generally derided by players and critics that you have a soft spot for, and vice versa?

2020-03-16 22:23:44 +0000 UTCI would look to podcasts like Talking simpsons or Bonfireside chat (any of the WoFF Podcasts really) Format wise they tend to have a bi-weekly guest situation and focus on a theme per epp.

2020-03-15 20:45:32 +0000 UTCThanks Megabyte!
2020-03-14 20:42:22 +0000 UTCWhat are some games that you would recommend to newcomers in a given genre on the SNES? As an example would you recommend Chrono Trigger and/or Final Fantasy IV for people interested in JRPGs? (I know the answer to that question is obvious)

2020-03-14 20:29:57 +0000 UTCThanks Robert!
2020-03-14 19:23:29 +0000 UTCWere you a Nintendo fanboy, and what did you think of the Genesis?
2020-03-14 19:17:05 +0000 UTCDon't get me started on cheapest AI, ugh. Thank you Paul!
2020-03-14 17:44:37 +0000 UTCWhat were the biggest missed opportunities in hindsight? (for developers or consoles) What modern games would have worked as a 16-bit game during the era, and which seem like they would work but really wouldn't? Which fighting games had the cheapest AI to fight against?

2020-03-14 17:43:15 +0000 UTCFantastic! Thank you Dan!
2020-03-14 17:13:44 +0000 UTCI have a few: Which old games deserve a remake? Which games should never have a remake? Which video game should be made into a movie/series? Which old movie/show should be made into a modern game?
2020-03-14 17:12:46 +0000 UTCHmmm interesting thought. In fact this could probably be an eventual video. Thank you Ryan!
2020-03-14 17:08:10 +0000 UTCThanks D.A.!
2020-03-14 17:07:28 +0000 UTCI've always like the idea of mixing retro games with modern context, e.g.: - How would online multiplayer impact / benefit X game? - Looking back on X system's library, which game do you most regret missing as a kid? - How does the intricate story of X game reflect its time? How does it resonate today? - Which game on X system felt most like a modern big-budget / AAA title?

2020-03-14 17:07:00 +0000 UTCWhat are the hardest SNES RPGs you've ever played?

2020-03-14 16:57:49 +0000 UTCI've definitely got an answer in mind for this one, thanks
2020-03-14 16:00:30 +0000 UTCRobert! Thanks man, these are great
2020-03-14 16:00:16 +0000 UTCI think given the nature of how video game rentals went back in the day you could get into some questions like "what was your most significant/ memorable experience with a rented game?". What was your biggest surprise when playing a game for the first time?

2020-03-14 15:54:52 +0000 UTC3 that randomly come to mind instantly: (damnit, can’t hit return on mobile ,apparently, so bear with me). 1. What’s your favorite Final Fantasy game? 2. What’s the worst game that you for whatever reason played a ton of? 3. What’s your favorite tactics or strategy game?

2020-03-14 15:52:21 +0000 UTCOUCH, that sucks. I do have my own story though
2020-03-14 15:22:08 +0000 UTCOhhhhh this is good, thank you!
2020-03-14 15:21:43 +0000 UTCThank you!
2020-03-14 15:21:37 +0000 UTCWhat's the worst natural/household disaster to ever happen to your retro consoles/games? When I was a kid, we had pipes leak directly onto my SNES. I remember taking out Super Metroid and gaping in horror at all the water coming out of the cartridge slot when I turned the system upside down while holding the eject button. The system and the game survived and lasted for years after.
2020-03-14 15:12:17 +0000 UTCWhat's the most progress you lost in a rented game because someone else rented it and erased your save
