(Edit) oh wait, it's possible I'm remembering an entirely different movie... researching it... Oh... hahaha, I was thinking of THE LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM (1988) a Ken Russel film. Totally different film with something familiar in the title. But I have seen both. I was looking at photos of Serpent and the Rainbow and not connecting it... Coincidence they're in the same year!
