Sigvald, The Ugly Phase

Finally, I can start revealing some Sigvald tutorials. I've had him for a while now, painting behind the scenes. It's a great figure that offered some opportunities to try a few new things and capture some classical magic.

In this first video, I wanted to lay out my approach in a more realistic way. When I record for Patreon, I am focusing on a specific area. But when I paint for myself, I start the model off all at once, gradually bringing along the whole figure and making changes along the way as new ideas come. So here we have the Ugly phase. I won't do many more videos like this but I think it sets a nice stage for the coming tutorials as well as teaching along the way.

Enjoy and plese let me know what you think!

Glad that little bit helped! A lot of the time they go away on their own because I'm using such a thin amount that one layer is pretty inconsequential. But we are here to learn every mode of combat for every condition, glad you dug it!

Haha, thank you so much, Alessandro! Wetblending is the key, the more skill points you put in the quicker things come together. Cheers buddy!

AH HA!! When airbrushing I always have specks that get away from me. They always land where they're most obvious. I would then panic as I never knew how to get rid of them, except for stripping all the paint that I had oh so carefully laid down, and starting over. Have a wet brush handy to pick up those spots is a great idea, one that I should have thought of. Cannot WAIT to see how you "improve" the capes and cloth (it looks perfect with the initial airbrushing you laid down). As an acolyte of Slannesh, I'm always curious to see how others handle the wonderful pinks an purples. The "shit phase" is looking good and can't wait to see more.

Painting the actual figure aside, I am always mesmerized by how insanely awesome the colors on your bases are. The way you render things so quickly is my favorite of your heavy metal wizard spells.
