An Exercise in Blending

Often times I find myself not diluting my paint, I will simply take a small amount and using a large moist brush, spread the paint until it creates a thin layer. This techniques is best used when combined with wetblending, the airbrush, or having a gradient established in some way. But here I present the technique on it own so that we may see every variation and sharpen our minds upon this single topic. Enjoy!

You are the first person I’ve seen explain this. When I first started, I learned all these terms and techniques of mini painting and felt I need to change the way I painted. But I always ended up painting like this way without thinking. I didn’t know how to explain it before because it came naturally. At first I was doubting myself because it takes longer than I’ve seen others. Everyone seems to want fast results. The whole “I must find a quicker way to do this” idea was in the back of my head. Then I remember I paint to escape and it’s okay to be slower. It’s one of the reasons I enjoy watching you paint because you are willing to take the extra time to do something over until you get the result you want. Though you paint fast, you aren’t rushing the paint. I appreciate this.

Great video. About to apply some safety layers now...
