Wrt Dune and specifically about Devilleneuve's critique of religion he put in the movie, not to court controversy, but this has nothing to do with catholicism in Quebec and everything with a francophone obsession with laïcité, often just a cover for an orientalist critique of 'islam'. Devilleneuve is not the worst offender but it is clearly at play in the background of some decisions here.
