Bonus Transmission 30 - OLD, FEAR STREET Trilogy + THE MISFITS (Spoilers)

Watched it in the theater myself, lots of gasps and laughs. I relived some of the terror just listening to y'all talk about it. It truly is that scary at sequences, the humor becomes necessary to cut the horror at some point, but is baked in as you said. There is some back ground chatter during the pregnancy scenes where the 6 year old is describing what he thought it took to make a baby, and even tho he knows this island is fucked and therefore not displaying an accurate reality, you feel that his little kid brain is somehow also learning that Oh no, this actually is how you make a baby...twisted mind moment executed in real time, that to me is too scary without also being silly. The "made a film about film" commentary, as inane as it can be, decidedly tracks here. The kids getting the heartfelt moment w mom and dad making up, jaw dropped at experiencing basically what we often collectively consider to be a 'full and happy life'; it's just two hours or so...kind of how you feel after seeing a good film.

2021-08-02 14:04:36 +0000 UTCI saw Old, I thought it had some really fun thrills, good camera misdirection, and I consider it evidence of M Night on top of his game. Hokey sure, but lots of fun. Your 6th sense/unbreakable convo got me in the mood for Shamalan. Haven't listened to ur Old take yet, but excited to hear your thoughts. Also of note....I didn't know I was seeing an M Night movie until his lil opening speech before the film. Rare visit to the theater with that level of raw surprise.
