Love the Death Wish films so over the top but so much fun :) My favorite one is number 1 still. This is how i rate them in order one being the best :) 1. Death Wish, 2. Death Wish 3, 3. Death Wish 2, Death Wish 4, Death Wish 5

According to the very fun book BRONSON'S LOOSE!, the dream sequence that opens DEATH WISH 4 was a holdover from an earlier draft of the screenplay, one that actually did center on Kersey's mental scars and inevitable deterioration. Didn't get made for obvious commercial reasons, but I would have loved to have seen that thread play out. Thompson was Bronson's go-to guy in the '80s - aside from DW4 and 10 TO MIDNIGHT, they also made THE EVIL THAT MEN DO, MURPHY'S LAW, MESSENGER OF DEATH and KINJITE: FORBIDDEN SUBJECTS. That last one... holy fuck, it's some rarefied sleaze, one of the grossest and ugliest films ever intended for mass consumption in my opinion. For true PhDs in putrescence only. Full disclosure/self horn-tooting: myself and Simon Abrams talked about the Thompson/Bronson films on one of the last episodes of our currently-defunct podcast. We also covered DEATH WISH 3 on our podcast about Michael Winner and whether or not he was a secret feminist. (Spoiler - he isn't.)
