I love the creepiness of it, but I'm mostly interested in all of the siblings! There is so much to explore and find out π€©π€©π€©π€©π€©π€©

2025-09-30 03:24:16 +0000 UTCWhatever I miss on the first watch, I'll definitely pick up on second and third watch since I'm for sure going to rewatch this one!! I'm with you, her monologue was great. I was watching her and thinking "What was her audition in order to land this role, it's not an easy one to do!!" The monologue painted such a vivid picture. A very brief introduction to them is all we need to get hooked! He didn't give us too much, just enough to make us want more. Even just not answering a phone call says a lot!! I am so looking forward to Steve seeing ghosts and finally having to let go of that logic he holds so dear π It doesn't matter what the character believes, I love seeing them have to question everything π€£ I definitely want to see more Mike Flanagan movies/TV series since he got me interested insanely quickly!!! I'm scared the next TV series won't live up to the amazingness of Sherlock and this! haha Out of curiosity, what other TV series do you think are top tier?

2025-09-16 00:16:16 +0000 UTCI am so happy you're watching this show. Before "Arcane", this was my go to gold standard for storytelling (visual and in writing) in tv shows. Similar to "Arcane" it is worth keeping an eye on the things happening around the characters and all the things that are told in pictures, looks or gestures. I can't wait to talk about so many things, but for not spoiling you I'll wait 'til we're about halfway into the show. What I can say is, I was really impressed by the monologue of the widow, when she told Steve about her husbands death. This actress delivered big time and the intensity rose the more the closer the camera crept into her face. So subtle (technically it was "just" a woman telling a story) and yet so powerful...π So far they gave us a short introduction of the family. I loved how Mike Flanagan gave us a good idea about each character with only a few, but very deliberately set broad strokes. Steves coping mechanism to deal with the loss of his mother seems to be denial. Since he didn't see what happened that night (besides what he thought was his mother in a window) and his father won't tell him anything, he spends his time collecting ghost stories of other people without really believing any of it and insists on the mental illness of his mother. He clings to reason...π€ You're reaction showed it perfectly: Only half an episode in and you've already fallen for the lovely family and are incredibly invested in their fate...π There are only two directors so far that are really good with Steven King - Frank Darabont ("The Shawshank Redemption", "The Mist", "The Green Mile") and Mike Flanagan ("Doctor Sleep", "The Life of Chuck", "Gerald's Game"). While Andres Muschiettis "It" or Rob Reiners "Stand By Me" are really good movies, they're not quite up to that level of excellence of the other two...π€π Mondays become truly special days. When you're done with this please continue with exceptional TV-Shows, please let there be a next one...π
